Okay...so I have been considering a major change in the crew manifest of Hi Ho Hyperdrive. For a long time I had been considering adding a pilot. But my characters are so diverse I was having a hard time coming up with a personality role that wasn't already filled by an existing crew member. Then I thought, 'you know, I really don't have anyone that's cranky'. Dr. Cloud can be a bit snooty and offended, and Nik is a bit neurotic and skittish but no one that's always going to push the negative. And I thought....'yeah, i need someone like that'. But then it occured to me that I really didn't think that that kind of personality would fit as a pilot, someone who has to lead the ship, dodge asteroids and bring them home. But a grouchy, ENGINEER, now that sounded fun. "Don't rush me! You've got to coax trash into doing what you want! I'll get your dumb engines running in a half and hour...maybe more if you keep bugging me."

But I already have engineers. Then it occured to me that Nik and Kit as pilots would be even more fun. "Honey, no. You need to take a left at Cenauri 10 and then around the fourth ring" "I know what I'm doing. This is a short cut."

Soooooooooo. Long story short, I'm swapping roles. This guy....or something like this guy (still working on his design) as the head engineer and Nik and Kit at the wheel.

As of now his name is Ludge. And he is from a species that admires the negative, reveres the dirty, and basically aspires to make everyone around them miserable. But he means well, sorta, in his own way.

I will probably put these sketches in storage once I've got a solid design for him.
