Description
Looking back through my snowflakes, I came to realize that my older ones are nowhere near as detailed as the newer ones. Guess that means I'm improving. Anyway, the original G1 flake seems incredibly simple to me now, so I decided to redo it. And here is the result of that.Time spent: Three and a half hours cutting it out, which is the longest I've taken on any flake so far, but only half an hour more than on the original G1Flake, so I'm getting faster too. The planning and sketching stage was a bit ridiculous at around six hours. But so worth it.

Thanks Sketching out the design for this one took several hours. Totally worth it though.

Isn't it though? It's still my personal favourite out of all those I've made over the years.

Thanks. "Arrowhead" may have taken longer to cut, but this one is probably more detailed. It's still my favourite, at any rate.

It involves stabbing paper with a knife hundreds of times, so I like to think there is a certain amount of badass in it as well...

The idea of using such a soft medium with innocent intentions and combining it with technology and pop culture is awesome! Your snowflakes (and I'm drawn to them specifically because I do cut-paper too) are so incredible!
I'm really impressed with the knife that you're using too - I had one that was similar but the blade moved every which way and it made me nervous for doing detail.

And I just came across [link] from the same place I bought my knife. It isn't ideal for me because of how many layers of paper I have to cut through, but perhaps something like it would be useful for the sort of papercutting you have in your gallery?

Wow, I may have to buy that. I usually use pretty thick cardstock so that might be cumbersome for the bigger cuts but for smaller ones, it might be perfect. Thanks for the information!

It all started with innocent intentions too, and then just sort of... proliferated. Now I've made over fifty of the things.
The knife I use is really intended for woodcarving, so once the blade is fastened in place, it isn't going anywhere. [link] <- There's a better view of it.

I'm impressed by the amount of thought and planning this must have taken in order to attain the snowflake affect. Many kudos!

They get folded before I cut them. Drawing the design on before I cut does take some time though.
