Looking back through my snowflakes, I came to realize that my older ones are nowhere near as detailed as the newer ones. Guess that means I'm improving. Anyway, the original G1 flake seems incredibly simple to me now, so I decided to redo it. And here is the result of that.Time spent: Three and a half hours cutting it out, which is the longest I've taken on any flake so far, but only half an hour more than on the original G1Flake, so I'm getting faster too. The planning and sketching stage was a bit ridiculous at around six hours. But so worth it.

I'm guessing you used an exacto knife? Do you plan these out on paper first or do the designs just come to you through trial and error?

I actually use a knife made for woodcarving, but it's pretty much an X-acto with a really thick handle. That 'Tools & Materials' up there is a link that'll take you to a photo of all the stuff I use for my snowflakes. The black-handled thing is my knife.
All the flakes are sketched out before I cut. I'd never be able to do them freehand. Too easy to screw up. This one took six hours to plan.

No. It's sandwiched between some construction paper and a bunch of other flakes inside a sketchbook, and has not seen the light of day in over a year. When I can (i.e. when I return to Canada) it'll go into the folder of plastic sleeves that I got to keep all my flakes in.
