Description
Location: The Narrows - Zion NP, UtahEquipment: Canon 1dS | 17-40L | Hoya Pro1 CP
I couldn't say enough about the The Narrows in Zion, NP. Ranks #5 in National Geographic: America's Best 100 Adventures. Colorfully-carved sandstone walls surround your view as you hike for hours in the Virgin River.
To get the right angle, I was in knee-deep water with my camera attached to my tripod.

Wonderful!
Nitpicks...the rock in the lower left is cut off...can crop out. And it would have been better w/o the people in the middle of the photo.
But way to get low and nail it.

Great effect on the water, and nice lighting. As with the frame, the solid black border seems to confine things for me, makes everything a little squished. But still, nice shot. (:

Really nice shot. I have seen this taken before, with the same vegetation I imagine although it could be a similar point, and this has much preferable lighting conditions.
In terms of composition, I dont like the frame to cut through thigs if it is avoidable. Maybe you couldnt help it with the vegetation, but the rocks at the bottom and right should have been brought into the frame completely, or composed out.
I like the milky water effect, I think it works well here, and it is a technique which I generally avoid now, yet it was a good choice here. I would probably darken the water just skightly though, its just a tiny bit overposering, and perhaps a little flat. A bit of darkening and contrast (just subtley) would imporve the situation.

beautiful setting and excellent capture. It's just a shame that a person got in your shot.
