Description The Virgin River flows through the rugged canyon in The Narrows section in Zion National Park.

I stopped here after a morning of fast paced hiking. Very relaxing place....

*I used a 3 stop neutral density filter and a polarizing filter on this shot.

I loved walking through the Virgin River. That was perhaps my favorite of the trails I hiked. Although, Riverwalk and Angel's Landing are two completely different animals! lol

Gorgeous imagery. You have managed to capture the beauty of Zion, which is very hard to do. Nothing can compare to the experience of the Parks!

Excellent composition and colors. I would have liked to see this maybe a third to a half stop darker though, just to enhance the shadows and low-mid range tones. Otherwise this is excellent. I hate to do this in rapid succession with Sol Duc, but definitely another fav. You have talent, my friend.
I loooove Zion. My only regret is that I couldn't spend more time there last summer. The Narrows was one of the most amazing hikes I have ever taken.

I actually remember this exact spot on the way up (though the water was much higher when I was there). If anything, I might like a stronger focus, but the lighting, motion blur, and exposure are all dead-on. Great photo of one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Absolutely stunning, the colours (especially the green) just seem to leap off the screen. Nice and sharp (except for the water of course ) with fantastic detail.

Another killer shot! The color of the tree is so well captured and is there a little of its reflection in the water? Nature is a stunning to see and you are a master of capturing it.

Excellent use of filters! People think a huge digi camera can do everything... A true photographer isn't satisified with what fate provides him but makes his picture his own. It's encouraging to see someone on dA who is capable of using advanced techniques. Well done! Beautiful shot!

Thank you.

You can do this easily without any filters; although, a circular polarizing filter is great for using on water. You just need to use a small aperture and wait for low light. Go for a shutter speed of 1/3 of a second, or slower, depending on the speed of the water.

Thanks for the reply.
I guess it was too bright on the day I tried my first lont-exposure water photos, as most of them were seriously overexposed, even with exposure times of 1/3 of a second. Or I made an error with the aperture - have to check that... thanks again

Try to photograph the water before/around sunrise, or after/around sunset. I usually use the aperture setting on my camera and bracket the exposure to make sure that I am not overexposing.
