For once, I'd like to see a 'I shall return' USPH picture where Piri isn't crying.

Hmm...well. It's not really a declaration of Independence.
My head canon is that after Gen McArthur left, the Philippines had to resort to Guerilla warfare. And since at that time being a woman is kinda VERY dangerous, Philippines would have to go in disguise as a man in order to fight the war.
I don't really think its that weird. In fact, I've heard lots of stories from grandparents saying they did dress up as males during Japanese Occupation. What I don't understand though is the whole "Spain thought she was a dude" head canon.

True, true, but in most of the fic stuff I read, she cut it off as if to say FU Spain/America/Japan. This is probably the first time anyone has actually said she cut her hair to do guerilla stuff and disguise as a dude

And yeah...like I already said to someone else, that part of Hungary's story made her awesome so I guess some OC creators want it in their OCs too..

And I think it was more so that they wanted to make her tougher saying she beat up Mexico all the time as a kid, but had to stop when Spain found out she was a girl, and blah blarghy blargh blah. Filipinos are awesome boxers and all, but srsly, the whole 'i thought she was a guy thing' is lame. Spain is carefree and laidback, not stupid.

OHHHMAAAIIIGOOOSSSSHHH!!!!!! Finally! An "I-Shall-Return" art that doesn't have Piri being all helpless in it!!!! I <333!!! Those lines... ashdjshfhj! In my head, this is what exactly Piri is, tbh. Because from what i heard during WWII (when Gen. McArthur left), the Filipino guerrillas continued on fighting, plus many underground organizations were formed.
