Commission for nebulo! The commissioner described this concept for an older future version of Tails: Many years after defeating Eggman with his childhood buddies, Tails now runs a big lab/workshop in the city. Living the tech guy lifestyle means he doesn’t get much of an opportunity to have fun… he’s kind of forgotten how! Hint: If you’re trying to enjoy your vacation, put your phone down, man. Those emails can wait.
As an always-busy scruffy fat tech guy myself, I knew this was gonna be a fun one. (The inclusion of a snail-patterned tropical shirt--because he's "taking it slow"--was just icing on the cake!)
(BTW, image was slightly resized by the commissioner to give the character more cartoony proportions! Credit where credit's due.)

I do wonder what the commissioner envisioned for the rest! This isn't the future I would have personally come up with for Tails if you asked me, but I will happily accept it. I think the phrase is "it's canon in my heart"?

I could see it happening when he's much older. When the servers crash and you have to work so late that you end up sleeping on the break room couch, you don't end up with a lot of time for running!
