Description
We all have an addiction. Books, music, drugs, sex, alcohol, games, computer, art. Society just has the ones it damns and the ones it does not.And even though some are self-destructive, people still continue to do them.
#3 of my addiction shots for my class.
I need to get it back from my teacher first though. D:

Oh so you live in a first world country and you have to have a device to post this and obviously you can sustain life normally you life must suck
Ps if you do it wrong you die so... PPs this is my opinion so if you don't like it ignore if your being bullied simply say to the "silly rabbit trix are for kids"then run off yelling "potato gnome!"

Man, I can relate to this, I have been dealing with a cutting problem since I was around 14. Still having difficulty with it

The scars look good, and it's hard to judge how realistic they are. They're different depending on what you do. People also burn, scratch, and scrape themselves.
My only problem with the image is that it would be pretty difficult to get those cuts in those places. Most people can't scratch every part of their own backs, let alone have the dexterity and flexibility to cut there. It does look nice that way though.

I think this might look better if some of the cuts were "fresh" and still bleeding. But great work

Masochism ;3
Just because you harm yourself doesn't mean you do it alone.

wow!! wonderful picture!! i'm so amazed! a small tip, you can make the very middle of the cut a very, very dark red, but a very thin line, so it looks really deep, if that's what you were aiming for ^^ this is sooo awesome!!

the scars look good but how would someone even reach back there?

Chocolat-Matt In reply to Franki-Dell [2010-09-09 00:10:47 +0000 UTC]
The intention in the photo wasn't simply someone cutting themself, but having taken the addiction to such a masochistic place that they had someone else hurt them because where they could reach wasn't good enough anymore.
As an unbelievable place to reach, it's kinda supposed to signifying some sort of being out of control.

Thanks! I hope it does raise awareness that
it isn't just for attention and that most people who do it
kinda have trouble stopping because it DOES release
chemicals in your body that make you feel great. :\
But yeah. Thank you!

It doesn't look real, but it's very believeable. The B&W is good because of the emotions involved. I like it!

i really like this picture..except im sorry but the cuts look like marker. maybe its just because mine are small except on my legs, they are bigger in the middle or on one side. idk maybe im just not looking right..sorry.

Chocolat-Matt In reply to Razor-Kissed-Lips [2010-04-25 02:09:10 +0000 UTC]
I'm glad you like it.
To be honest; it wasn't even a marker. It was stage blood and a paint brush. ._.
And technically... I wasn't trying to make it look like
typical cuts, such as from a pair of scissors or normal
house items... otherwise I wouldn't have made them so thick.
Thank you for your criticism!

it's nice someone sees it as an addiction, cause that's what it is. Releases Endorphins and Adrenaline and that's what ptople get addicted to. It's bloody hard to stop i can tell you that for nothing. lovely photo, i love the angle perpective and how the model has protrayed the insecure and lost look in their position. well done

Thank you very much.
I'm glad that I could portray it so well.
I think most people don't take it serious enough
and those who contemplate doing it(or do it for
attention as I know some do(but not all))
don't take it as serious as it really is and
don't think about what it will do, like with drugs
and other items.
I believe that you can become codependent on cutting
just like you can anything else and that is freakishly dangerous. D:
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kei-Ago In reply to Chocolat-Matt [2010-04-08 13:15:39 +0000 UTC]
Oh you definitely can, and it's just as dangerous as drugs and other such items. So many risks, Bleeding out being the obvious, to things like septicimia (blood poisoning). It's SO hard to stop, and some people never do. It's something people shuold be taught about i think, just like they are taught about drugs, alcohol and sex.

wow. most people dont think you can get addicted to cutting. they think youre crazy if you cut once and then cant stop. nice to know someone classifies this as an addiction and not just 'something emo people do'.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Chocolat-Matt In reply to avrilfan12341 [2010-01-26 05:07:06 +0000 UTC]
Honestly; I think most people who cut ( who don't do it for the attention ) do it because it makes them feel good. I don't really get how that's much different than drugs and sex and stuff. XD
And I think most people who cut to feel good aren't even emos.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
avrilfan12341 In reply to Chocolat-Matt [2010-01-26 21:27:06 +0000 UTC]
yea the only problem with that is you only feel good for a few minutes. i agree thought, people who cut shouldnt automatically classified as emos.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Chocolat-Matt In reply to avrilfan12341 [2010-01-27 01:31:50 +0000 UTC]
Well, the same could be said for all the addiction. You feel good only for the duration of the drug, then you feel like crap, same with alocholism, and sex. As soon as you're alone again, it all comes back and you want more.
