Description
Ok, so it's nearly 2 in the morning and I can't sleep, so I made a crappy little tutorial on how to put heeled shoes on models.credits go to , , and montecore.
If anyone wants, I can also make a tutorial on how to put fishnet stockings on models.
The third to the last panel got covered up, it's supposed to say, "You can test the feet out in the Transform window by clicking "T" at the top."

I thought I did, I weighed the right shoe to the right foot, and the left shoe to the left foot, just like with the center. I selected the bone around the ankle for each one, pressed go on the W window, highlighted what needed to be, and pressed go again to stop. There's only one bone you have to weight it to, right?

No. You need to weight it to the toe bone too.

Just curious, how do you un-weight? I weighted it to the toe bone as well as the lower and upper leg and I'm trying to un-weight it from the upper leg.

Hmm either Undo it by pressing Ctrl+Z or weight it to another bone I guess? I don't know, I've never tried to unweight a bone.

BTW, I figured it out recently. You have to drag the little bar from 100 to zero and then paint what you want to unweight.

Oh I didn't know that...I figured out also if you want to re-do an area while weighting, unclick the OK button

It seems that when I weight it to one thing, like the center bone, then move on to the foot and toe bone, one comes undone. I don't really understand weighting. I might google for more info on specifics. What do you mean by re-do an area?

Like if you missed a spot, you can go back and redo it without re-weighting the entire part. I don't know much about weighting myself (since I've only done it about 3 times.)

Ok, thanks for all the help, I'll stop working on it today and try to work on something other than the heels tomorrow.

Okay, I made a copy of the file before I weighted it, so I weighted the copy to the foot, toe, and knee bones. It's not perfect, but for the most part, it's working properly.

Yep. I'm not a professional either, but the basics I've learned can be very helpful. Thanks for all the help, hopefully there won't be many more glitches in the final.

This was helpful. I just wish I'd known about it earlier. I put heels on a model before, but this seems like a much more proper way. I'll keep it in mind the next time I use heels, like maybe if I remake a model I had in the past.

I think I'm also using the clock stage you liked on one of my projects now too. Yep, the one at: [link] It is pretty. But before I post my project I must fix the hair and skirt bones. I was looking for a tutorial on it when I stumbled on yours. I could try it without one, it'd just be a lot of difficult guesswork....

FINALLY! I put heels on a model before, but I did it a completly different way (that ended up not working XD). I put the shoes on the model and deleted the part of the model's foot that showed.
But this looks eaiser

chocosunday In reply to xXRandomHetaliaFanXx [2012-06-23 03:15:55 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, you could do it both ways too. Use this method, and delete the parts afterward.

Many thanks for the info~ I can finally put some awesome shoes on a few models~
But, since I rarely use PMDE, I'll be having a hard time doing the editing myself.
A-Anyway, thanks for the info!
