Description I just wanted to draw her hair to be quite honest :'D

I'm not a huge fan of the film, but I love Merida's design and I love her as a character. She is one of my favourite Disney Princesses if not my favourite overall.

I just would love to see more who aren't so cookie cutter obvious and expected, not just personality wise but design wise too.

I do feel like drawing more Disney princesses, or just Disney characters in general, but no I probably wont do any Frozen fanart, I'm not a huge fan of that film either and their designs didn't win me over like Merida's did :'D

But for conversations sake, who is your favourite Disney princess/character? It interests me to know what people think and maybe it'll spark something in me to doodle them~

Wow you've captured Merida perfectly! I adore your art style, the characters are all so vibrant and convincing! You're incredibly talented!Β

Also, (long post is long)
My favorite Disney princess is Rapunzel, because I really enjoyed how Disney wrote her character. They implied throughout the film that she was incredibly intelligent, dedicated and inventive, teaching herself many skills using limited resources (learning how to chart stars? With only having read 3 books in her lifetime?? how brilliant do you have to be!?) Not only that but she was obviously creative, and she had a positive effect on every single person she met. She is shown to change people for the better, and she made various characters believe in their dreams. Though it was slightly unrealistic for her to be so confident and open with strangers right away after living with Mother Gothel constantly undermining and belittling her, I think the movie successfully portrayed her growth and confidence in herself. Rapunzel is resilient and passionate about everything she does and that makes her an incredibly likeable character. Also, Rapunzel and Eugene's relationship really resonated with me, because they were essentially two lonely kids who connected and found their dreams in each other. That's why Tangled will always have such a special place in my heart!

Ahh I love Rapunzel too I love Tangled in general it was just a lovely film.
As for her being so open and confident with strangers I would probably drum it up to her being naive maybe? But yea a little caution would have made sense too XD

I haven't actually seen Brave, of yet. Though I've heard good things about the movie and I love the designs I've seen for her. xD Hmm. I'm not a big fan of Disney Princess, but Beauty & The Beast has been a favourite movie since I was young. I always admired Belle's intelligence and how it was contrasted by her slight, ah...gullibility? Another favourite was Ariel, but that's only because my younger sisters watched it nonstop for about six months. //laughs//

I didn't particularly care for Frozen either, which was slightly disappointing because I'd heard so many good things about it. Hmm. Ah well.

Great one, I love her messy hair! I'd love to see a pencil sketch with digital coloring on top in your style - I'm sure the grainy feel of pencil would look great :3
I'm not sure if Mulan is a Disney Princess, but to me she's pretty much the only one worth mentioning.Β

Ah yee Mulan is cool, I dunno if she's a princess but she does get included in the lineup sometimes so maybe?

And thank you so much, I might try that one day when I get my scanner up and running again :'D
Although my traditional lines have been lacking lately ;u;

ahh, this looks so good! I love how you do your art.Β

A favorite Disney princess would have to be Snow White, I've always loved the story for her, and I love the original story from the brothers grimm.Β
Idk

My favorite Disney Character would have to be Maleficent, and contrary to the New movie (which I am in fact excited for) I have always loved Maleficent, I loved how evil she was and what she went through to try and stop anyone from getting the princess.
I thought her turning herself into a dragon was great.Β

Aww thank you so much, that means a lot to hear cB

I have not seen Snow White in full in recent memory, I will have to remedy this cB
She has a really sweet design though, she looks so different from the other princesses and I like that :'D

Maleficent is pretty damn cool too, I think it's hard to not like her :'D

This is a super cute doodle!
You know I liked the movie but it didn't impact me nearly as much as Tangled did, I LOVED that movie,
And I know it will spawn hate but I thought Frozen was the worst Disney movie that I have seen. The characters were awful and the storyline was crap. (This is my opinion only)
I couldn't even sit through the entire movie and I redbox'd it for a $1.62 and felt like I wasted money!

On another note, I love love love Princess Jasmine! She has always been my favorite Disney princess!
I have that movie memorized line for line *u*
I still watch it every now and again, it's just a really happy feel good movie for me and it puts me in a good mood!

Ahh yea I think I was hyped up by everyone and when I got to watch it, it felt like a completely different movie from what I saw in the trailers and heard about :'D I heard it had some trouble behind the scenes so I guess it explains why I felt it was a bit disjointed in story, BUT it was beautiful, I love parent and child relationship stories and I loved the characters a lot :'D So it did have that going for it.

Ahahaha oh dear I was trying to tone back my opinions on Frozen but you just threw it out there :'D yeah I was naughty and watched it online for free but it was just so meh, I keep hearing it advertised here like "The best Disney film of a generation" and even my partner is calling bullshit :'D Tangled was so much better, I'm wondering if they made all of the songs less pop-py and a little more musically like Frozen they would think differently but ah well :'D
The only thing I think I could commend was sister love over romantic love but then Lilo and Stitch did it, and did it better :'D
Here's hoping the next one is a bit better ;u;

Hehehe Jasmine is super popular it seems :'D I can see why though~
That movie was my childhood man, good times.

I do agree on the Brave story,
I really really liked the family aspect, and it was refreshing to see a mother and father relationship from Pixar,
Most of the time in animated movies parents are dead or it's a solo parent.
The way Brave had them so in love and doting on one another was sweet! The funny tidbits of her smacking her bum made me laugh my ass off.

You know, that is the same thing we heard about Frozen. How it's the top grossing over even Toy Story and I'm pretty disturbed by that.
And I'm so glad that someone else shares my opinion! My boyfriend and I were like...what the hell is this? It's awful. And still everyone I talk to loved it!
Personally I was never excited about it. When I saw that the designs were basically Tangled concepts reused I was like...yeah ok, that's creative. The previews didn't interest me either.
Tangled was such a beautiful movie. Great story, really dark if you think about it, and the graphics and music was just lovely.
And the way that my boyfriend was saying it, was that they sang Wayyyyy more than necessary. I know it's Disney/Pixar and there will be singing, but even I agreed with him. None of the music really captured me.
And don't get me started about the snowman XD that was obnoxious as hell. And the blonde guy talking on behalf of his reindeer? Obnoxious. Turned me off right away.
Oh god Lilo and Stitch is such an amazing movie! The relationship between the two sisters was so sweet and endearing!!
Just recently rewatched that on Netflix, it's so sweet. Strong sassy females are the best!

It surprises me because most people I know are the ballgown princess lovers (Belle, Cinderella, even Ariel)
Don't get me wrong I like them all in a certain degree but Jasmine has always had my heart. I collect anything I can of her when I see her in stores.
It pisses me off that she isn't included in some stores and how little of her is actually available for purchase.

Chopstuff In reply to RaisloverSakura [2014-04-29 21:48:57 +0000 UTC]

Yesss that was really nice to see as well cB I will have to watch Brave again sometime since I don't really remember a whole lot of details but yea, the start of the movie is what got in interested most :'D I remember the little Merida with the bow and I just argh XD So cute.

Ahaha yea I'm surprised sometimes when I hear some people really don't like it since it seems like everyone does, like we were talking about it on skype like "meh" and my friend pitched in out of nowhere saying how much she hated it, it was pretty intense :'D
Oh no the trailers for it were so bad :'D that one with just the snowman and the reindeer was just euuuuugh, that was obnoxious XD
I would have liked that blonde guys reindeer talking thing if it had a purpose :'D Also the snowman wasn't as annoying as he looks, but he felt kinda pointless ;u;

Ah yea they seem to sell more of the ballgown princesses at our stores too :'D I guess they're aiming at the little girls who like pretty things but still, jasmine is pretty, and when I was a kid they had Mulan dolls and apparently Pocahontas, so hey why can't we have those :'D I still want a Merida one ahaha

RaisloverSakura In reply to Chopstuff [2014-04-30 15:45:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh gosh yes, the opening was lovely!!
I also love how beautiful the scenery was! I had a friend who was a bit annoyed that it wasn't more "rooted" like the music didn't match their culture or something of the likes,
I got Brave for Xmas, and though it's not my top favorite, it is still a cute movie to watch every now and again.
Unlike How To Train Your Dragon that I can watch like everyday XD

Well I am relieved that we weren't the only ones who didn't like it,
I just still find it so hard to believe that people loved it that much. What a whole lot of disappointment on my end.
Everyone has their own opinions though, and if they liked it, good for them. I hope Disney's next movie won't be a huge letdown.
I heard it has something to do with the water/ocean. And a strong female lead to protect her family. A friend showed me the concept art, I will see if I can find it again.
It kind of reminded me of a Hawaiian/Caribbean theme.

Oh meee too! I had all the Disney Princess dolls! I remember Mulan had a cool thing where if you put cold water on her face it would "erase" the white makeup and then if you did something else it would come back XD
They also had those pully things in their backs to lift up their hair. I had a few dolls like that. Mulan's dolls were very pretty though! With that kimono and everything *u*
Sadly I find that dolls are becoming more and more ugly. And they change the dolls designs so drastically. Last year I went into the Disney store here in the mall with a friend and they had no Cinderalla's in the store. When we asked where her stuff was the sales people told us that she was currently out of the stores because they were remodelling her look/design. I was annoyed :/ how many times do they have the change her dress and face?

Chopstuff In reply to RaisloverSakura [2014-04-30 21:35:41 +0000 UTC]

How to train your dragon is my jam :'D I've been watching the tv series just out of curiosity because most of my shows are on a break or slow to come out XD It's cute, the twins are always my favourites :'D

Ohhhhhh that sounds right up my alley *u* Ocean themed things always appeal to me hnnnn, it better be good c8< But if it's Hawaiian/Caribbean looking in theme I'm quite looking forward to that cB Everything about this says that I will like it so pleaaaaase don't eff it up, Disney XDD

My Mulan had detachable hair and a sword so you could 'cut' it off like a cool chick XD but I loved her so much, even thought my brother broke her arm, my dad had to glue it back together hehehe, I remember you could get her horse as well and it came with a little Mushu, I really wanted it but I had to beg for the Mulan doll for Christmas so I kinda used up my "I want it so much, Mum." on that :'D
The ones they have at the store now are just so boring, they're pretty much all the same, just plain sparkly dolls :'D

Ohh wow I've never been to a Disney store but that sounds odd 8u I always found it silly that their original designs were always pretty and they feel the need to change them to make them all sparkly and pretty for little girls :'D Or for whatever reason.
I saw the Merida redesign when I was looking up references, I had the biggest nope face :'D She was so cute before, what happened ahahhaa ;u;
Ah well it's going to be a constant thing unfortunately ;u;

Oh? The TV show is good?
I guess I will have to find it somehow XD I don't have TV, just netflix on my PS3
(Speaking of PS3 holy balls FFX looks amazing! Yuna's eyes! That was the first thing that blew me away! They look wonderful! And the backgrounds, you weren't joking!!! I can't stop staring!)

I hope that the next Disney will be good!
If you are interested this is the thing my friend showed me: disney.wikia.com/wiki/Moana & skunkandburningtires.com/wp-co…

Oh wow! Your Mulan doll sounded awesome!!! I don't think I saw that one over here!
I have to agree with you, I am tired of the glittery crazy dolls. Personally I want the simple regular designs!
I actually collect Jasmine dolls and figurines when I find her, and I don't buy her unless she looks just like the movie. I don't want the glittery pants and all that other nonsense,
I want her as she is supposed to look. They recently did a Disney fashion line I don't know if you saw it? Some of them looked amazing, oh my god and the villain fashion designer too!!
Just google Disney Princess Designer Collection (1 and 2 I believe)
I guess it just goes to show that normal plain designs aren't good enough for today's generation of children. It's sad, and obnoxious for those who do want to collect the nowadays dolls..

Yea it's not ground breaking amazing but it's enjoyable in my opinion cB
Awww yesss it's great *u* I need to go back and play it more some time, I'm an achievement whore and I wanna get everything *u*

Oh my gosh as soon as I saw the name "Moana" I got really happy :'D How on the nose and fitting hehee~
I grew up going to schools where they embraced a lot of Maori and Polynesian culture so I think I'd really enjoy this one if it's going in that direction :'D

I've never seen those before :'D But yea some of them are really pretty and not as tacky looking as a lot of the sparkley ones they sell XD
It's sad though, I'm one of those people who likes them in their canon outfits :'D But I'm super picky with my merch ehhehe, like I can't get a tshirt unless the design is really neat, if it has giant logos or anything I pass :'D
That's why I don't have any FF shirts, the only ones I ever likes were limited edition and impossible to get now XD
But yea I would collect them if I had money and could find anything nice :'D but yea, I've never seen any nice ones lately so I just passed XD

But that is what weekend are for, right??

I hope the new film will be awesome! That's so cool about your schools teaching you about that stuff!
Seems you have more of an inside scoop than most ;D I hope this movie will be satisfying and be better than it's predecessor XD

I like how fluffy you drew her hair. Too many people draw natural curls like shiny, coiffed perms. Ugh!

My favorite Disney princesses would have to be Merida and Jasmine. Merida is both likeable and flawed, which I feel a lot of Disney princesses don't strike a good balance. She's confident and daring, but she also doesn't like to take responsibility for things she does wrong. Not once is that portrayed positively in the story, which is good. I love Jasmine for her unapologetic pride and strong self-worth; despite being a sheltered status symbol being used as a means to an end, she never hesitates to stand up for herself and carve out a life she wants. No easy feat!

As for favorite Disney characters in general, probably Lilo. She's one of the best written characters in Disney, hands down.

Those are really good reasons to like those two cB Jasmine is pretty awesome and yea, I love that flawed side of characters, it makes them a lot more interesting to me ;u;
Also yesss Lilo is a great character, that movie gives me the warm fuzzies ;u;
