Stephen and Michael were born on the same day. Michael was born to protect and be a lifelong companion for Stephen as he grew up and took over his Fathers duties as the overseer of life and death.

They each grew up to have very different outlooks on things, Stephen hated sharing everything with Michael because he wanted everything to himself, while Michael loved having someone to always share moments with, he was never afraid to be completely honest with Stephen, especially when he was being an arse, he sort of keeps Stephen grounded.

As much of an arse that Stephen is, he does appreciate and enjoy Michael's company, he doesn't have any other friends and Michael is the only person/satyr he knows who isn't afraid of him, will joke and laugh with him and just straight up tolerates him.
Michael is also the only one who would try and convince others that Stephen is a pretty alright dudebro. He's very much a glass-half-full kind of satyr.

Secretly Michael just finds Stephen incredibly funny to watch because he's so tiny and aggressive.
