I was looking at my redesign of Darth Vader as you can see here ([link] ) and noticed that he looked really lighthearded and cartoonish for someone who's so evil he'd commit genocide to a race he was once a part of. I wanted to keep the 'samurai' look to him while making him look so scary that if you saw him walk straight in your direction you'd $#!+ your pants. His mask is pretty much the same as the original, but his helmit and eyes are different.And yeah...that's about it.

That's pretty cool! I like the samuri look of him! He looks pretty mean! The samuri helmet and face mask was part of the design from the first. well, actually the helmet came first, then the breath mask came about because george lucas was told by darth's designer, ralph macquarrie, that in a scene earlier in the movie, darth crosses from his star destroyer, through space, and would need a breathing mask in the vacuum of space. So ralph designed the version we all know with the breath mask, and almost as an after thought, george said something like "yep, that'll do!" and thus we have darth's breath mask. later he wrote into his backstory the part about darth and obi-wan fighting around a volcano and darth falling in and getting burnt, needing his suit and breath mask to help him live. this idea has been around for years! even when I was young! When "revenge of the sith" came out, all of those scenes i visualized in my head about this part in darths life came into visual reality, and except for the "NOOOOOOOOO" from darth learning about what happened to his wife, they did a damn good job! Sorry didn't mean to type so much. again, this is a grrrreat drawing of darth! May the force be with you!

Although I like this, there is one problem Darth seems to have that even the original lacked. Darth Vader's armor is mean't for incubation, it's a massive life support machine. So shoulden't his armor some how reflect that? maybe tubes on the back to his neck or something along those lines.

that's awesome!! he look so natural in this pose, that's something I apreciate in an artist, give life to the pic with a natural moviment. So detailed too the shading is amazing. Pen or pencil?! Great job!!!

Thanks for sending me the link. I like this one much better than your old one. The all black look certainly suits Vader better, and while I'm not sure if I should say this is an improvement over Lucas' Vader (big Star Wars fan myself), I really like the look. His new armor looks especially made for combat, much sleeker than the bulky life support system he once wore. I love how you got the cape hanging over him like that, you're very good with folds and such. I like the saber, I think it was a good choice to have him holding it.
I don't think I can really find anything wrong with this. The shading is good, the perspective and shapes all look good. Though what I would like to see is a position where more of his armor is visible. Much of his chest area is covered up here. Hey... maybe you could redesign Luke and put them in a duel scene? Lemme know if you do make another.

heh, I think I DO like this one better...although a tiny bit of red on the costume like in the last one could spice it up a bit. It's just my opinion, but I still like this one way or another. Kick-ass job, man.

I think its much better.. perfect i would say... only now he needs a good backdrop... mayb after all that, you could paint it wif photoshop or something.

The light saber contrasts with the black/white scetch but it works out well.
