So I was thinking of the Sonic Series timeline today since it's so mixed up and since apparently the Classic Sonic in Sonic Forces isn't the same one from Sonic Generations (supposedly). So I tried to make sense of the series' timeline and decided to make this. It excludes some of the spinoff titles such as Sonic Drift and the Sonic Boom Games. I tried to focus mainly on games which had some significance within the main series, whether it be large or small.

I might try to do a timeline over the Mario Series and include the Yoshi + Donkey Kong + Wario series games as well but that might be a bit too difficult.

I mainly put the games in the order in which they come out, unless it's confirmed or implied where they take place within the timeline then i'll place them in their proper spots.

We still don't know where in the Timeline Sonic Mania takes place, but it's pretty much implied it takes place during the Classic Era. I was going to put Sonic Mania right after Sonic 3 & Knuckles but I decided to place it after Sonic R since I heard someone who works for SEGA say that Sonic Mania is thought as if it were a 2D sonic game if the Classic games continued onto the SEGA Saturn. So I decided it fit in around the Saturn Sonic games. Also side note Nack, Bark, and Bean appear on wanted posters so that might imply that this game comes after Sonic the Fighters. (Yes I know those are just easter eggs so I don't take them seriously)

Sonic 4 is obviously before Sonic Adventure because it's pretty much implied that this game comes before the adventure games. Sonic 4 comes sometime after Sonic & Knuckles but Sonic and Tails' designs are their modern designs so they must come after all the classic games, so by that logic they can't come before any Classic era games.

Here are the games in order (Sorry for not including Sonic Pocket Adventure, I will add it in later, i'd say it comes sometime before Sonic 4: Episode I since Eggman's design changes from the Classic design to the Modern design within this game, so i'd say this game is sort of a transition over to the modern games in the timeline if you want to look at it that way)
