Description
This is a sculpture I made of MechaGodzilla, based on the American Godzilla’s body frame and inspired by Kiryu’s robot shell. The sculpture was made using Crayola model magic and is about 8” tall and 17” long. It took about a month a fully sculpt, refine, and paint.Seen here with detachable wings. I thought it would be cool if he flew into battle with retractable dragon-like wings instead of just rockets.

Nicely done! I think the wings really work on the Gino body shape. Great idea. Though I think it could use a little black here and there so its not just one solid chunk of silver, like how Kiryu had the black spaces between the armor. Still though very cool.

I would love to do more sculptures. It's just such an investment of time compared to drawing, and I have so many projects I want to do. If only I didn't need sleep

How did you make this with Model Magic? This is AWESOME! Does it have, like, a wire skeleton or something? Because the Model Magic sculptures I attempted to make collapsed whilst they dried.

And yes, underneath the model magic is a full skeleton made of wire and cardboard. The wire helps to give support, and the cardboard to show about how thick each should be. It also gives you a better idea if your sculpture is the correct proportions or not.
As you noted, Model Magic is a lot heavier and softer right out of the bag, so it will tend to droop or even collapse as it dries. Having a wire frame will help, but even then you need to be patient and just do a little at a time.
When I made this sculpture, I only put one light layer of model magic on both legs in the first sitting before stopping to let it dry. But then when I came back to add some more, it was a lot more sturdy the next time.
