Description
Another quick job; drew and painted it in four'ish hours. I know, it's messy in places, but it's 3:41 am; I'm in no state of consciousness to do anything about it...
*REVISED*
-Slightly intensified the shadows on the figure.
-Added a new layer of highlights
-Gave the walls a ribbed surface
-Gave the humans a vague silhouette
-Added a layer of fog, cuz I liked the effect I'd gotten by accident and wanted more.
-Cleaned up a lot of rough edges in the environment.

In the original Alien, it has two thumbs and four fingers which are fused together into pairs

I use Photoshop 7, and the flaking effect was done using a simple texture overlay

Oh okay, I have that program. ^^ But what's a texture overlay? And how do you do that? Lol sorry for the 20 questions -- I'm just curious.

After you lay down some base colors, go to Layers> Layer Style... and click that; it'll bring up a menu full'a stuff like glows, bevels, drop shadows, all that good stuff. Near the bottom of the list is "Pattern Overlay"; hit that and it'll let you apply patterns. Be sure to play around with the blend modes!

Ohhh okay thanks! But no wonder I've never heard of it -- my Photoshop won't let me open it! I went to Layers and Layer Style is in gray, meaning I can't click on it. I tried using it on a picture I already drew -- that didn't work. Then I tried it on a new picture that I just opened and scribbled something and it was still gray. I wonder why I can't click on it. >.<

Are you trying to use it on a background layer? The styles only work on movable-type layers.

Oh wow... this is my favourite piece of your work Beav... it's excellent, I hope you get around to finishing the lighting on the back of the Hive wall, but damn the rest is just great it really captures the whole feel of Aliens

The lightning rocks in this. And i cant make up my mind that is the thing scared or curious in this. Or maybe both or neither ^^
