Description
Part of a story i'm working on right now.It is a very slow process, although I have no idea how long it usually takes to write and paint graphic novels, but i'm trying to speed things up anyway
Also, maybe some of you guys can suggest a few novels to me, i'm trying to read as many as possible to get a feeling for it. I prefer to read only fantasy for now because mine own will be in the fantasy genre and i dont want to be influenced by sci-fi or anything. But if it's just something mind-blowingly awesome i'll read it even if it's not fantasy

i've read a couple of books by Anne Rice, was quite good
but currently i'm getting back to the old stuff like Lovecraft and Poe, got into it during my high school time so now i'm hoping to discover hidden secrets that i might have missed when i first read it.

OMG this is freaking awesome! Love the flow and shape of the whole thing. If you're still looking for things to read, the Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman would be choice.

one advice... even if you are only aiming to fantasy... you should read as many genres as possible... so you can have a good idea on what has been already done... and what you could do to make your story fresh and diffrent!

A good fantasy, that even though it doesn't contain that much action, is name The Books of Umber. It's a trilogy and the first one is titled Happenstance found, Dragon games is number two, and The End of Time is number three. I was severely dissappointed with the ending, but I think Catanese rushed the third one because he didn't want to turn it into an ongoing saga.

Both are pretty good, there is also one comic book you might want to look at "Hellboy" (pointing at the more popular stuff)
There is a "Beowulf" Graphic novel that I came across that might be nice to read if you are looking for something with a nice dark feel.
To look at a good example of "flow" I would suggest the web comic "Gunnerkrigg Court" it's later chapters are very good at it (its at a intermission so a joke comic is being shown, just go back a few pages or chapters from where it puts you)
For comedy (both loud and subtle) I would look at the webcomic "Looking for group"
none are sci-fi (well gunnerkrigg is to a lesser extent) so should work fine.

Firstly, this is utterly awesome... It's intensely dark and gives such a strong sense of formidable power - stunning work!
Secondly, has anybody recommended the graphic novels featuring Slaine? If they have, I'm sorry - I was too lazy to look through every comment left here... If not, then I would certainly say they're worth a look. Some of them are very hellish, but all with a Celtic angle.
