Heck yea man, that concept needs to be played out more in comics. Thats what i love so much about Frank Miller's Dark Knight series. Back then, Gotham was relatively clean looking in comics, but that's not really what Batman is. He's always been hardcore and gritty (and when you think about it, a lot of heroes are).
You really should look into making gritty portraits of all the Spiderman villains. I'd buy em.
