Description Well, i rarely get questions regarding my process, but i figured this would be a good way to inform and entertain, so here you go.

Also on another note, i want to SINCERELY apologize to you, my fellow deviants for my lack of response, and coorespondence. I TRULY enjoy posting my work here on DA, but if i am not available to you guys as a person, then i am not doing what my lifes calling is, which is be a real friend as much as possible.

There are TONS of artists here on DA that make my work look like crap, EASILY, and i feel that my art can only go so far, but who i am to you guys is whats most important, and my lack of response and conversation over the last couple of weeks has been unacceptable.

So to you all of whom i have not responded to over the last month or so, please understand it was not for anything but HORRIBLE time management and i SINCERELY from the bottom of my heart apologize, and i promise i will get better at it,

With thanks and Love.
PEACE!

It's always interesting to see how others work. Don't mind me asking this, but what size is your lightbox?

REALLY SMALL! ITs a category that you dont hear much about antmore, lol. Its one of those cheap "lightTRACER by Artograph" ones. And i have the smallest version of it.

I got only 1 question mang:
step 1 is drawn in blue or is it actually black? if so, do you lightbox the drawing for step 2?
it looks great anyway yo!

I like #2 why did u get rid of the upper lip after that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chriscopeland In reply to Nutthead [2007-05-12 17:06:05 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yeah alot of people like my more sketchy pieces, too bad i dont really think much of it, not at least until i get out of my Leinil Francis Yu addiction.

For whatever reason there are certain elements of his work that i steal from COMPLETELY, and im not down with that yet, so im in the process of figuring out my own little niche, and then i will start to slowly impliment little elements.

As far as the upper lip goes, i used to do a process wtih the lips where if i wanted to convey a PUFFED UP lip or a TURNED UP lip, i would do a quick little linem and would only define the bottom lip to emphasize the facial structure that i was going for. THis was my attempt to try that again as i havent done that process in a while, but the final version has a little bit of lip to it though. HOLLA!

Nutthead In reply to chriscopeland [2007-05-12 19:03:40 +0000 UTC]

i thought the upper lip loss had something to do with a defining of the character really makes it look different
i can immediately tell u why i like #2-cuz of the difference in the line thikness and cuz of the extra strokes on the face that create a sort of skin texture
good luck with your style man-i hope one day to start workin on that too

jethrosketch [2007-05-12 12:49:21 +0000 UTC]

Thank you thank you thank you i always wanted to see this step by step....can i just ask which step are you inking this in and what are you using in step 2 & 3 are you tracing it on another sheet?
Thanks again!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chriscopeland In reply to jethrosketch [2007-05-12 16:52:42 +0000 UTC]

No prob, Umm, i usually do all of this in PaperMate Pen, unless whoever im doing it for says, "You suck at Inking, do it in Pencil" and even then i usually do all these steps in Ink, and then Lightbox the final decision with Graphite.

Yeah i usually do these on little pieces of scrap paper, i use a lot of paper, and alot of time, and im still learning this process, as i really have only been using the lightbox for about a year now, so still a lot to learn on my end. Thanks for asking yo,

PEACE!

chriscopeland In reply to jusdog [2007-05-12 16:48:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah well, YOU KNOW HOW I DO!

Do you mean the first on as in the sketch, or the first in the clean-up stage?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jusdog In reply to chriscopeland [2007-05-12 21:06:07 +0000 UTC]

The first as in the sketch.... I don't know why it loses that in the final stage... Its like, raw, but then, you start thinkin in the clean up stage, and looks different.... I don't know, you know what your doing. Don't change nothin, you'll get it down...
