Description
I think this sort of randomly emerged out of a pose, but I really haven't drawn any zoras in awhile, and they are too awesome to neglect. Β So here we go. :3Ever notice how you do art during an important time in your life and so the piece and various elements of the piece remind you of specific, special moments? Β This is kind of like that!

Thank you :3 I love how much freedom this race gives in designing different ones Β Reminds me of why I used to really love drawing dragons as a kid.

I know what you mean.Β All the other kids were drawing like, "bunny!" or "kitty!", and I was like "centaur! " (or mermaid, or fairy, or cecaelia alien lady.Β I was that weird kid.)

It just look awesome! Please teach me how you make the water, sea and everything look so great!
Plus I really love the design of your Zora character! She really look different from the usual ^^!

Honestly, the water was just splotches of color with high-powered smudges squiggled everywhere, and some painting to blend it all. :3 Light to dark so that the sunlight and the sea depth was clear, that was the key! Thank you!
And yeah. I wanted to make her a bit unique. It seems like most Zora are unique from each other with fin colors and markings and whatnot :3

Yeah I guess so but my brain still didn't totally understand how it's supposed to work lol. Because when I tried myself it really didn't look as great! But hey, it should come with training!
Anyway, you're welcome ^^.
And yeah, that's the good thing with Zoras, their race design is open enough to let a lot possibilities, and it's good to see that a lot of artists are able to use it ^^!

Yes exactly :3
What software do you use for art? That might be a good place for us to start. I use photoshop, but if you use something different, then the technique might be different.Β I notice we don't approach coloring the same way, so maybe there are other ways I can help you to get an underwater look in your style

You wish to help me? That's very nice of you ^^!
I use illustrator to do my drawing (knowing that I always start with a traditional sketch but whatever). I did try to use photoshop but for some reason I found it kind of confusing. And yeah the two doesn't really work the same, even though it might also be question of our respective style.

It's funny, because I'm far better with Photoshop than Illustrator.
Actually, I'm not sure what a good vector approach to water would be with illustrator. That program feels very restrictive when it comes to a lot of things, to me.Β I do my work in photoshop.Β If you can get used to the different brushes, it might be worth it for the blending, painty feel :3

I will be honest, I didn't tried Photoshop yet because I was really lost because of all the options ^^'. That's why I started with Illustrator which seems to have less, and so be easier for beginners (for the record I started computer drawing in September). But I think one day I will switch for Photoshop. I will just need to find a better tutorial I guess for all the brushes, effects and stuff.

There are some great tutorials. It is hard at first, yes, but it is worth it because you get more freedom

Yeah I guess so. But you are right, I should really go back on it for so many reasons ^^.

I guess so considering so much people use it, there must be a reason.

This is so different and exotic. Β I love the soothing deep sea colors, the fish and the sunlight penetrating the waters.

It's hard to get the light-water effect. I need to practice it more.
