GO BORIS GOThis'll be my entry for 's second contest, finished it off early since I missed the first one because I am amazing. Had quite a bit of fun playing with this, and I think I've developed a few things here that I want to take a little further in the future.
Anyways definitely go check the group out if you haven't. The monthly contests seem like they'll be great practice, and the more submissions the merrier!

I really like the colors, the background, and the green glow of it all. I also think the scales to Venusaur makes it look more professional.

In SAI I just use the "rough-flat" and "simple round" brushes, and the pen tool in some areas. I've been meaning to try more of the brush and texture options out, but those are the main 3 I have been using so far.

Yeah, I based his moveset off of a Venusaur I had used in one of the games and kind of regretted it afterwards because I didn't know how I would illustrate growth. xD
But, it ended up being very fun!

Great colours! You remind me of another Pokemon artist...I forget their name....but they made a tutorial about the colours and stuff.
I love the way the grass underneath seems to glow!

I use some ideas I picked up from 's color tutorial all the time in my paintings, maybe that's who you're thinking of? I'm not really sure how similar our styles are though, you just mentioned "color tutorial" and that's who I thought of immediately haha.

Yes they are, she's definitely one of my favorite artists on this site.
It feels pretty nice that you're reminded of her style, just because her work is a big inspiration to me. But you are exactly right about imitation, and I've been really trying to develop my own look the past couple of weeks. So it's good to hear you can pick my style out, tells me I might be getting somewhere with it!
