Betters arced his brow at that. "I dunno about you, but angel is probably the last word I'd use to describe Alma." he said after a moments thought.
"Oh no no... not in that way." the doctor said. "Not in the cherubs and words from God sense no. I mean divine in the older sense of the world. The older, more terrible sense."
"What, plagues upon Egypt, blood from the heavens kind?"
"The same. Thor smiting giants with Mjolnir. Susanoo laying waste to Japan. Gods in those days were not something you looked to for guidance or how to live. You hoped their ire would not be drawn to you. You appeased them. What do you do when you account a force so beyond yourself?"
Betters shrugged. "To try to understand it. Figure out its weaknesses, it motivations. Contain it. Fight it."
"I'd expect no finer answer from a member FEAR of course." he said. "But for others, the answer is quite a bit more simple."
"Kill it?"
"Worship it." the doctor said with a thin smile. "You stand in divinity doctor. And it has taken the form of woman born with primordial fire stoked within her. And bitter at all the mortals who picked at her mind in order to steal a spark from that fire." The doctor finished his drink and set the cup on the table. "Make sure you lay the right sacrifices and show the proper respect when she is present. She is a wrathful one. Best not displease her."

Revisiting Alma from my FEAR reborn project. Which doubled as a nice classics study.
It's kinda weird in one sense to draw stuff for her because, at this point, she's only a semi-oc. The Alma of the previous games is honestly less a character and more of a force of nature. An entity consumed by so much wrath and base instinct that they cannot retain coherence. So trying to figure out a character that didn't drown in madness requires some imagination. I've thought about enough details in my head that's ultimately so drastically different from her actual incarnation despite being based off of the same foundations. It seems strange to build off another's work like this.
But then again, nobody's using the goddamned IP right now, so fuck it, use it or lose it! Besides, even if they do bring it back I've got no confidence WB won't just make it a shitty live service bullshit game. Might as well stick to something that I'd actually like to play.
