Dude you have no idea of how torn I was - and still am! - about the rockruff evolution that would suit Ruby the best! And I really chose that exact pokemon because I wanted her to have a wolf to make a reference to her fairytale.
If you just look at colors, midnight would sound like a nice fit, but if you go deeper and analyze personalities, movesets, abilities, fighting styles and other characteristics of the pkm you can see that midnight, surprisingly, would actually be a better fit for Yang than Ruby lmao
