Description
*EDIT* Closed for entries from 730AM Friday 8th May. Thank you to all those who entered. I will be announcing the winner at some point today.Check out the winner:
And next contest here:
------
I havn't had much time recently for any personal pieces, Social Distancing has kept me much busier than anticipated with other peoples work and also being a teacher in the UK I'm still working two days per week- so to give something back and also to keep myself entertained I had this idea for a competition. I'm not sure how much traction this will get, but here goes anyway.
This image represents the "Origin" moment for this brand new character- if you'd like me to render an image of your choosing, your own character or maybe a friends- someone in your D&D party, whatever- all you have to do is submit an origin story for this character. Tell me who she is, what's happening around her and maybe even what she goes on to become.
Entries should be a minimum of 300 words- write them right down below in the comments so that other's can discuss your ideas with you. On the 8th May I will pick my favourite- also taking into account other Deviant's opinions from the comments and that person will win a free commission from me, like the one above?
It would mean an awful lot to me if you could share/promote this contest if you are able to!
Any questions?? Go ahead and ask.
Hope you're all well.

Begun on the 1st of Sun's Dusk, Year of Akatosh 433, Third Era-3E433
This is a detailed intelligence Dossier on the life, activities and achievements of Langwen the Wood Elf, to be classified TOP SECRET, with access to be granted only to the Emperor or Empress of Tamriel...and such members of the Elder Council as the Emperor/Empress sees fit. Forbidden on penalty of death for anyone else to remove this document from the White-Gold Tower in the Imperial City. Further information is to be added as needed by Moth Priests reading the Elder Scrolls. Before anything else, we must start with a detailed biography of the subject, including her names and titles.
Name: Langwen of Arenthia, called Langwen Golden-Oak-Leaves by locals in Arenthia because of the colour of her hair, the Golden Peach because of her sparkling perfect skin complexion. Such surnames are never mentioned to her face openly.
Spouse/Partner: Married to a beautiful Nord maiden, Darena of Dragonbridge, Knight of the Lamp, also 18 years of age.
Date of birth: Loredas, the 23rd of Last Seed, 3E415 (Year 415 of the Third Era)
Age: 18
Place of Birth: City of Arenthia, province of Valenwood (Home of the Wood Elves), Empire of Tamriel
Parents/Other Notable Family Members: Father Archanar (Noble Brother), Mother Esgaldis (Screened/Veiled Bride). Both parents currently residing in Arenthia. Father Archanar is an extremely wealthy merchant who has made his fortune through the importation of alcoholic drinks as well as mining and excavation. Owns the largest and most profitable vineyard in Arenthia.
Mother Esgaldis is a dutiful wife and retired adventurer. The Imperial Government cannot confirm the PERSISTENT RUMORS that Esgaldis was heavily pregnant with Langwen...who is their eighth child...when she went adventuring in the Ayleid ruins of Senalana, located outside Arenthia, looking for treasure or arcane tomes...when she went into heavy labor...and had to be carried to the temple of Dibella in Arenthia...where after a day and a half of labor pains, she gave birth to Langwen. -TO BE IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATED AND EITHER CONFIRMED OR DENIED-.
Regardless, it IS a known fact that the evening of Langwen's birth, the very stars of the heavens allied, the Steed and the Tower constellations most of all...men and mer could see...with the naked eye...the stars of Dibella, Mara and Kynareth sparkling brighter than ever. It IS ALSO KNOWN that Esgaldis was publicly rebuked for her recklessness and greed by the Princess Primate of Dibella in Valenwood.
Other members of the family include Langwen's aunt Orchaldis (Lofty Bride), born in 3E370 and five years older than Esgaldis. Both women are rumored to be descended from an illustrious line of heroes, heroines and adventurers. Orchaldis lives in the Dragontail Mountains in Orsinium. Langwen also has a sister called Lengil...meaning Naked (Lanc) Female (IL) in the Elven Tongue, born 3E409 who is the Champion of Morrowind, the Nerevarine. Last reported to be living on one of the island between Tamriel and Akavir. -GIVEN THE PRESENCE OF TWO HEROINES IN ONE SINGLE GENERATION, A DETAILED GENEALOGICAL INVESTIGATION IS CURRENTLY ON-GOING, ALTHOUGHT IT COULD TAKE YEARS OR A DECADE TO KNOW FOR SURE.
Titles (Well Earned): Heroine of the Oblivion Crisis-Langwen is known to have closed 60 Oblivion Gates (possibly more) and has been instrumental in foiling the invasion plans of the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon and his accursed mortal servants, the Mythic Dawn cult. The Mythic Dawn murdered almost the entire Septim bloodline to sow chaos and destruction in Mehrunes Dagon's name.
Heroine of Kvatch-The Daedric invasion forces opened the first Oblivion gate at Kvatch, and almost razed the city to the ground in the hopes of assassinating Martin Septim, the last (and illegitimate heir) of Emperor Uriel Septim VII.
Savior of Tamriel-Langwen was instrumental in recovering the Amulet of Kings...stolen by the Mythic Dawn...and helping Martin Septim perform the ultimate sacrifice to defeat and banish Mehrunes Dagon.
Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild-Langwen the Wood Elf displays such a natural affinity for magic and the arcane arts, that she impressed all those at the Arcane University in the Imperial City who came into contact with her by the speed with which she mastered and exceeded even the highest of expectations. In addition Langwen helped to thwart the plots of the Order of the Black Worm, a cult-like organization of Necromancers and killed their leader, Mannimarco. As if this weren't enough, Langwen proved she's not just a pretty face by killing almost every known necromancer out of Cyrodiil and ordering their severed heads placed on spikes on all city and villages gates and along all main and secondary roadways as a ruthless warning to all to practice or seek to practice necromancy.
Mistress of the Fighters Guild-Langwen helped the Fighters Guild beat back illegal competition from the Blackwood Company, and exposed the nefarious activities of the Blackwood Company, including murders, colluding with bandits and brigands, staging fights to win popularity and earning new glories for the Fighter's Guild while ensuring its monopoly on bodyguards in mercenaries throughout Cyrodiil and Tamriel. Along with necromancers, Langwen had ordered bandits and brigands to be hanged and left in trees...as a feast for crows and wolves.
Blade Mistress of the Blades-Blade Masters/Mistresses are rumored to be a perfect mixture of warrior, assassin and spy...tasked with performing the most difficult endeavours of the Blades. Langwen was instrumental in cleansing the ruins of Sancre Tor...and releasing the spirits of four Blades Knights trapped within. With the undead gone, Sancre Tor is now a thriving city in the Colovian Highlands...and a massive garrison for both Blades and Imperial Legionnaires as well which helped patrol the mountain roadways.
Paladin Sister of the Order of Virtuous Blood-Langwen helped expose a vampire infiltrator within the ranks of this noble order of vampire hunters and prevented the killing of several women and womer who were framed for the murders that were committed by the vampire. She is an avid and avowed foe of all vampires, undead and those who practice forbidden dark arts.
Divine Crusader and Slayer of Umaril the Unfeathered-Following a series of attacks on chapels...including the defilement and desecration of the Chapel of Dibella in Anvil, Langwen listened to the words of an itinerant preacher and prophet and gathered the Lost Relics of the First crusader, Pelinal Whitestrake, his armor, shield and weapons. She defeated the Ayleid king, killing him both body and soul in the Ayleid ruin of Garlas Malatar on the West Coast of Cyrodiil, now fully rebuilt and restored as a temple to the Goddess Dibella. Garlas Malatar means Cavern of the High/Elder Woods in the Ayleid Tongue. Before undertaking this quest, Langwen had to purify herself of her sins committed in the Arena and for the Dark Brotherhood.
Champion of Sheogorath-It is unknown what tasks Langwen the Wood Elf performed once she entered the shivering Isles, the realm of Oblivion ruled over the Daedric lord of Madness, Sheogorath. Whatever task or tasks they were, all that is know is that Langwen came back out of the portal, lucid and perfectly sane, a testament to her spiritual, mental and physical prowess. She was seen wearing the dark green and purple dress and wielding the Wabbajack, a magical staff of mischief and madness only bestowed on the greatest of adventurers. Langwen also wielded the twin swords, Dawnfang and Duskfang, powerful sentient artifacts which require the blood of the wicked to regain, retain or enhance their elemental powers of Fire, Frost and Paralysis.
Gray Fox of the Thieves Guild and Nightingale Emerita of Nocturnal-Langwen helped the Count of Anvil, Corvus Umbranox, break the curse of the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal and return to his normal life. Her singing voice is so beautiful that it can charm not only the beasts of the wild, but men, women, mer, womer and even Daedra. In return the Daedric Princess of Thieves and Shadow, Nocturnal allowed Langwen to enter her realm of Oblivion, Evergloam, and was so impressed with her singing skills...along with Langwen recovering a stolen artifact for the Princess...that she made her an honorary Nightingale...allowing her access to great powers and artifacts.
Grand Champion of the Arena-Langwen had defeated all opponents in the Arena of the Imperial City, bringing great glory to the sport of gladiatorial combat...her most notable kill was the reigning Grand Champion, Agronak Gro-Malog, a massive Orc who was the illegitimate son of an Orc maidservant and an Imperial nobleman named Lovidicus. Agronak asked the Wood Elf to bring back evidence of his noble birth, however the truth was much worse, as his father was also a vampire. Langwen traveled to the ruined fortress of Crowhaven, the last known military command of Agronak's father, and discovered the Lovidicus' secret diary detailing his affair with his Orc maidservant. When the maid servant, Agronak's mother found out, she sealed him the underground headquarters of the fortress until Langwen...looking for gold, treasure...and more evidence...accidentally released him. She had no choice but to kill him and Agronak was distraught with grief at the news. In the Arena, Agronak refused to fight Langwen...and the Wood Elf, drunk with the cheers of the mob in her pointy ears...baying for the Orc's blood...killed him...which led to a nightly visitation from the assassin's guild known as the Dark Brotherhood.
Listener Emerita of the Dark Brotherhood-Langwen the Wood Elf was sleeping peacefully in her Waterfront home in the Imperial City when her sharp Elven ears heard the flutter of robes and felt a breath right above her...an Imperial man wearing black hooded robes stood above her. "You sleep rather soundly for a murderer. That's good. You'll need a clear conscience for what I'm about to propose." Langwen gasped and tried to cover her nakedness with the bed embroidered silk comforter gasping as she realized her dagger was gone. And it wasn't just any dagger it was Mehrunes' Razor itself, a vicious a lethal Daedric artifact which Langwen found in the underground ruins of the Ayleid city of Varsa Baalim. "I am Lucien Lachance, a Speaker for the Dark Brotherhood. And you, you are a killer. A taker of life. A harvester of souls. Your work, your death-craft, pleases the Night Mother. And so, I come to you with an offering. An opportunity...to join our rather unique family." the Imperial man said as she handed Langwen back her dagger along with what looked to be a newly forged black ebony blade. He called it the Blade of Woe...and an apt name it was as Langwen used it to kill...for the first time...for money, a Breton named Rufio who was responsible for defiling two Imperial women, a mother and daughter. The second target was Gaston Tussaud, a Breton pirate captain who enjoyed brutality for its own sake. Langwen rose through the ranks and finally performed her greatest feat yet, saving the life of the Night Mother, the ghostly guiding spirit of the Dark Brotherhood and exposing and killing a traitor deep within its ranks. For this deed alone, she was promoted to Listener...the highest rank achievable in the Dark Brotherhood. When asked to purify the Cheydinhal Sanctuary...that is to kill every one of her family members on suspicions that one of them was the traitor whom the Brotherhood had long sought...Langwen chose to follow her conscience and her wits rather than simply obey orders blindly. "Dread Father Sithis, Night Mother, forgive me this I cannot do. The men of the Sanctuary are like brothers, uncles, cousins to me...the women are my best friends...my lovers as well. They are not traitors and this I cannot do." Langwen said as that very night she cooked for her "Family" a specially poisoned stew which included a venomous fish whose poison slows the heartbeat and mimics the coldness of death...and Langourwine, which is a magical concoction that keeps the blood warm and moving...and thus the victim alive. Lucien Lachance was pleased to see the...seemingly dead...family members at the table slumped over as Langwen struggled to control her tears and sobbing.
