I'm no pilot!
The ship is dying, that much is clear. All the nav charts tell me where she is headed, and that her engines are beyond repair. The terror I felt was paralyzing. I was alone and about to die. Death did not come in those next few hours, but it will- and before too long. She's been good to me- the ship- for the last few days it has taken for me to explore her I have found some basic equipment, preserved food and water. When she was abandoned I could not tell. Huge sections of her have been closed off due to damage. The sirens never abated- the helmet of this old re-breather helped to dull them out. Over the intercom I hear only static.
When I stumbled across a hangar bay I couldn't believe my luck, an old scout vessel was still in it's docking clamps. I loaded up my equipment into it's tiny hold and activated the automatic launch sequence. Miraculously it has survived the test of time and without too much protestation, it's lights flickered and engines came back to life. The ship is not fitted with a hyperdrive or long range communications. So where ever I am- this is where I will stay.
Nav computer tells me I am well outside this stars goldilocks zone, far too close to the sun. There are over a dozen planets in this system, but unless this tiny ship can get me to a planet further out it will soon become my coffin.
