Description I was inspired by iCarly (and some of the other fantastic shows created by the Genius known as Dan Schneider,) and i wanted to make something simple. this changes all of the apple logos in the UI, (I'm sorry, I can't do anything about the one on the case of your computer.)

This kind of collides a bit because you have a pear.... but have an operating system named after a type of apple. (And yes, a Macintosh is a type of apple just like Golden Delicious is. )

Any chance we could get the menubar icon for black menubars? Or which files to edit.

Great Mod, the boot screen works great and the about this mac is flawless, but the menu bar graphic is unfortunately still an apple . I have moved the file several times, but it still doesn't work correctly. what am I doing wrong. I am using os x 10.6 on a MacBook Pro.

it only works with an opaque menu bar. you have to go into your Desktop & Screensaver settings and turn off the transparent menu bar

Okay, seriously, I sort of chuckled when I saw this. The almost 20 yr old/Mad Men watching person in me wants to think: "ICarly, really?"... but, then... I love ICarly. No shame. So, this is pretty awesome. Thanks ;D

Experiencing the same effect as Son1ze. Can you please post the solution to have my system back to normal (not restarting)?

ChrisTheNerd, what version of BootXChanger did you include in the package?

Son1ze In reply to c0ldplay [2010-06-23 15:27:49 +0000 UTC]

FYI. To get my boot screen to got back to it's normal behavior I used BootXChanger to restore to default Apple logo. Then I deleted the com.apple.PowerManagment.plist from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and restarted. The plist regenerates and everything then went back to how it was.

**Please note** The 'restarting on shutdown issue' was not caused by this mod. It was entirely another issue that I had in the past. I was merely mentioning it because most people have the other two plist files in that location where I only have the one because the other two have never regenerated so I thought the missing plist might be affecting why the PearMod was not sticking...

Fix documented here: [link]

Hope that helps.

Thank you, Son1ze. The more I look into it, I realize we have different problems. Actually, your problem is included in mine; however, my system contuinually restarts (it's on a loop) after I log in.

Thanks, though!

Tried to change the boot image with BootXChanger & the Boot Pear.tif but the change didn't apply. Instead my system now hangs for longer than it should at the white screen on restarts and/or startup before the the originnal Apple logo and spinner appear and not the pear logo. It's almost as if it is searching for something then finally finds the original logo...

Have tried to us BootXChanger to reset to the original Apple boot logo but it doesn't fix the hang at?

Any ideas what's going on here?

Son1ze In reply to ChrisTheNerd [2010-06-12 18:48:36 +0000 UTC]

Hmm...yeah I did check there first but I didn't see anything under the release notes or known issues sections...Actually have got it to revert back to default.

I wonder if it has anything to do with permissions of the pear image or the fact that I don't have a com.apple.Boot.plist in the /system/library/preferences/system configuration folder? Weird.

ChrisTheNerd In reply to Son1ze [2010-06-12 21:03:24 +0000 UTC]

quite strange indeed. what are your system specs?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Son1ze In reply to ChrisTheNerd [2010-06-18 04:15:05 +0000 UTC]

Got the usual suspects. SL 10.6.4 / MBP 13" 2.66Ghz / 4GB Ram / 500GB HD

The reason I had to delete the follow files...

com.apple.Boot.plist
com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
com.AutoWake.plist

...from the the /System/Library/preferences/SystemConfiguration was that it was a documented fix for my MBP constant restarting instead of shutting down when I would go to shut down. The weird thing is that only the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist regenerates after the reboot but I haven't had any restart/shut down issues since. A decent trade for me I guess...
