Description Carcharocles megalodon, es una especie extinta de tiburón que vivió aproximadamente entre 28 y 1,5 millones de años atrás, durante el Cenozoico.
Se conocen fósiles de C. megalodon procedentes de diferentes partes del mundo, que incluyen a Europa, América del Norte, América del Sur, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Jamaica, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Japón, África, Malta, Granadinas, Islas Canarias, e India. Algunos dientes de C. megalodon se descubrieron en regiones muy alejadas de los continentes (por ejemplo, en la Fosa de las Marianas en el Océano Pacífico).

I love this reconstruction with a shorter nose. It really suits it. Also it's not likely that megalodon could ever be 20 meters in length. 18 meters is the highest estimate for the largest specimen. Tho with livyathan to share the food source with, I don't think it's that likely carcharocles them to reach 18 meters.

The most likely estimate for levyatan in my opinion is 15.4 meters based on brigmophyseter.

Megalodon was reclassified to carcharocles genus. Apparently it's not related to great whites, at all.
