Real life communism is exactly what degenerate Marx wanted. It couldn't end up any way differently.
Empire of Man on the other hand could, if not Horus Heresy, bring back reality of Golden Age of Technology. It's not utopia because we know it actually happened. Marxist vision didn't tried to revive any former state of affairs or reform it within some realistic boundaries. It tried to create absolutely new order which, too make it worse, is absolutely opposite to human nature.
Communism was destined to fail from day one. Emporor's dream failed only because direct and very focused effort of Chaos Undivided.

You mean to say that Karl Marx wanted the massacre of all those who opposed his concept of utopia, and that the communist revolutions failed from the very start to create a utopia and never sought to restore mankind to a state of strength and prosperity? If so, I get what you mean.
