- Both of them stem from an abusive childhood where their caretakers relationships with them weren’t really all that good **(Brian’s mother was implied to be relatively absent and has an unnamed father while Fugo’s parents put constant over pressure on him to do good in school).**
- They suffered abuse from a figure that they should be able to trust and as a result made them set for a more grim path **(Brian’s mother’s boyfriend was extremely abusive while Fugo’s teacher was attempting to assault and manipulate him).**
- They confront/are confronted by these people and are pushed to a breaking point as they dealt with them **(Brian was pushed to his darkest moment when confronting the man and immersed the world in darkness while Fugo being confronted by his teacher was pushed into rage as he killed him with a book).**
- These events were factors into ‘triggering’ their abilities that were awakened by their strongest emotions. These abilities are associated with a smoke-like ability that they can use to act as an extension of themselves **(The feeling of being pushed to his weakest point caused Brian to awaken his dark-cloud ability that he can freely control. Fugo’s rage awakened his stand, Purple Haze, which produces some sort of virus from its capsules in the form of a purple smoke). **
- Because of this they were now special humans with powers where these powers originated from the cosmos **(Brian was a Parahuman while Fugo became a stand user).**
- They end up being persuaded into a team of criminals because of their skills **(The Undersiders and Team Bucciarati).**
