Yes it'll work on any surface. But if you don't primer it with gesso, I'm not sure if it will grip good enough.

I've struggled with oil paints for years, and I'm pretty sure this will help me break into a new medium!

Thanks for the explanation, this is just how i do it. Do you rub in medium/linseed over the surface you're painting on, to make blending easier?Β

I paint on primed canvas or primed Masonite boards. Having trouble replying to people. Screen keeps freezing so I'm trying the comment section.

Try deleting your browser cookies and (if you use windows) go into your start menu - "run" - type in "cmd" - hit enter and type into this command form "ipconfig/flushdns", hit enter and see what happens... this trick helped me a lot when hanging on some web page or having login problems. *Crossing fingers for you that it works*
Besides that - thank you for this tutorial, it's incredibly useful!

Or what you could try too is to restart your router ... also helps here sometimes.

Aha, you have to thin out the oil pain, that makes sense. I tried it once but did not know how to use it and it did not go well. Thank you for this. What kind of paper would you recommend for oils paint?
