Description
Another color attempt. As always, theres things I like and a lot of things I dont. The worst is the X that can barely be made out. Sigh. I dont know why I do things sometimes or why I dont realize they're bad ideas until it's too late. I like how the yellow bits came out though. Thats something.Prismacolor cool greys and Color Copics with white paint on vellum bristol board.

This Rogue illustration is simply amazing: The line art, the colors, the shadings, the volume... I've added it to my favourites.

HI! This is GREAT! Quick question, did you use one shade of yellow mixed with the cool greys to get the other tones, or did you use multiple yellow markers?

Thanks. I ended up using a yellow orange for shading, then blending the pure yellow color into that, then going back in and further shading with cool greys. Like all my color work, it's just learn as I go and improvise.

Love this colour stuff. The "X" was a good idea, it just needed to be a little bigger, so we could make it out more. Awesome Rogue anyway.

You are a master with the markers...well, maybe not master, but definitely getting there!
I think I may have to invest in some copics and prismas soon. Thank you for being a great inspiration.

Yeah, they're pricey. And the Prismas dry out quick. I'd recommend getting some Copic Sketch markers. They're refillable (saves a lot of money)and have a really nice brush like tip on one end. Very versatile.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I dig all of your work, but the color pieces are coming along nicely. I definitely look forward to seeing more. What Copics are you using for flesh? I always have trouble figuring those out because some colors are too pink or too orange.

ChristopherStevens In reply to RandySiplon [2011-11-04 08:54:54 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. For this one I used YR00, R12 and R30. I also use the grey to help with shading and depth. They also help with color as they have a bit of blue in them. The white paint is also a factor. Flesh is hard to do. I don't really have a system in place to handle it yet, so it's trial and error.

You just have to go for it. Worse that can happen is that you have to scrap it and start over. I actually had to do that on this one. It hurts, but gotta take that chance.

ChristopherStevens In reply to mechangel2002 [2011-11-03 11:13:09 +0000 UTC]
Nah, you dont want to see that. Most importantly, I dont want anyone to see it. Lets just say that it blows and it was lousy enough to start over. I start over all the time, but usually do it in the pencil stage. Rarely get to the rendering and have to start from scratch, but it happens.
