Description
Here's the digitally painted alternate cover for Skullkickers #1. The distressing, old school comic logo and pricing were done by Steven Finch at Image. It's a direct homage to Jack Kirby's Incredible Hulk #1 cover illo, playing off of the 'Fantasy As You Like It' line from the original for this new sword & sorcery comedy series.

I'm stopping by the comic shop tomorrow, so I'll be sure to check it out. I used to love that old hyperbole, "As you like it!" "Because you demanded it!" etc. As a kid, I was like"I-I did? Hmmm. Okay, I guess I'll pick it up then..."
...and I'm still waiting for my black and white (greyscale markers) one shot-- ALL CHRIS STEVENS.

Haha! Awesome! I was actually kinda of sick of this homage for a while since Marvel used it for dozens of Hulk books, but I think this one is pretty original.

This look almost authentic except for the "299" cent pricetag and painted colors!

I'm amused that you would even entertain such skullduggery.
Oh, and sweet picture.

I need to talk to Steven Finch about how the hell he does that. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I love that nostalgic look. I used to think it was dumb to do that, but now... I can see why one does that, and it grew on me, somewhat rapidly.

Yeah, I've always dug it, but then I always liked old beat up comics. It's a cool look.

Beats me. I had nothing to do with it. Good question though.
