OH DAMN! This is nuts Chris! I would pay a million bucks to see the process work on this one! You getΒ the color & grey tone markers to play so well together.

This is nice! (except it looks like Spiderman is a woman with no boobs...maybe add a bulge to this? Β I can't imagine that suit hides too much even in shadow...)

That's one hideous figure for a woman. I don't want to see a cock-print on my superheroes

I love that you don't fully simplify your shadows! It's graphic, but looks deep at the same time.Β

Great piece. Not sure if you're open to critique, but I'd like to offer a minor opportunity. I think that the white outlines around Spidey do a great job of differentiating him from the background, but my initial inclination with this piece is that the goblin's hood could have either been darker or cooler because the hue and value of the Spidey's mask (in shadow) is so close to the background.Β

woot! love this!
question tho is there a reason that you didn't use green/purple on the green gobs? Β

ChristopherStevens In reply to Zounderth [2016-04-21 21:37:34 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. I was going for a monochrome type background. It's not monochrome, but that's what I was going for Less colors on the BG so that hopefully Spidey would pop. That's why I used green on Spidey. Color is always a weird experiment for me.

It's times like these I wish there was a multi- butoon! Amazing work, Chris! Also, have you ever thought about making an art book? I'd be delighted to be able to flip through a compilation of your astounding pieces.

Thank you! Not really. I did a sketchbook type of thing years ago, but I need to go to conventions to sell them and I'm not much of a con guy. I still have tons of those damn things in my garage. Maybe a proper art book could be doable some day though.

NicolasRGiacondino In reply to ChristopherStevens [2016-04-22 15:02:48 +0000 UTC]
I don't think it's mandatory to go to conventions to sell an artbook; I mean, if you manage to have a publisher you could do well in online sales alone and maybe some small distribution to stores. If you find someone who wants to do that, then by all means, count me in with a copy
And you have tons of your sketchbooks at home? Mmm. I think I might have to send you a Note and dust off my wallet

I was referring to my old sketchbook which seemed to sell at conventions, but not very well online. That's normal but I don't do many shows a year. Thanks. It's not out of the question that I'll do a real book at some point. I don't even sell the sketchbook anymore. It's so old now that I don't want to charge people money for it. If I ever see you at a show, I'll happily give you one
