This was my second painted commission. Like every painting I do right now, it was a series of firsts and experiments, redos and accidents both happy and not so much. Trying to do a suit like this with so many clean lines was the toughest part. I think the colors really work though. Simple, but they work. I like simple. Especially with colors as thats all I really understand at this point. My favorite thing right now is using warm and cool colors. It's a really simple way to get contrast and make things pop. Hopefully, I'll keep learning new tricks. Gotta start somewhere.Oils on panel

I love that this is traditional oil. I've painted some fan art in acrylic before, but it's been years since I've risked oils on anything. This is beautifully done. I'm very jealous. Storm as the Goddess of Thunder was one of my favorite versions of her. Not sure if that was Neal or Art Adams (Art, I think). Great work.

Hey, good to see you posted this! This is mine people, and I love it. Chris asked about the uniform, and I gave him the furry boots option but he was not afraid of the challenge. I am planning to start framing some of my art, and this is at the top of the list. Thanks again Chris. After looking at your gallery...and comparing it to mine and most others, ours looks like stick men and smiley faces. Redos? others...can't dos. Others have accidents...I have good and not so much. I'm thinking yours are more like great...then accidents of brilliants or bummer its still just great. Thank you for not using stupid watermarks, all that does is ruin a piece. I've said," If you need to use a watermark your already famous, successful and you don't need to post it". I'll be in orbit. PLANETKURTH

Really like the color pallette for the background and Loki; it gives the piece a classic paperback cover feel to it. I kinda have an issue with the one leg fading into the mist with no outline of it's shape in the bottom right corner, but it's not 'wrong', per se; just my personal view.

Beautiful work, as always! I've gotta say, though, that my eye is basically jetting straight past Storm and going straight to Loki's face. Normally, warm colors jump forward in a viewer's field of vision, and cool colors recede, and the way you've set that background ablaze (stunningly, don't get me wrong!) seems to multiply this effect. It's like Storm is part of the background, and Loki is the focus of the piece. But still, working with the limited palette really works for you. The way you transition between the orange and the blue tones is freaking sublime. The rendering (especially the glove) makes me just want to give up on art because I know I'll never even come close. I can't wait to see what you do next!

Thanks for your thoughts. I completely understand what you mean. I should probably do color roughs on my paintings as Im finding it hard to see color in my head. I'm always surprised by the end results hehe. Not always in a good way.
