Description
Hey folks. I've been asked a few times (or a few hundred times hehe) about my process so I'm going to go ahead and do a step by step. It's not going to cover every little thing, but it should give a decent idea of how I work.1. This scan is the typical line drawing that I do as a base plus some blacks that I've added.
I generally don't flesh out the pencils any more than this. I want the board to be as clean as possible. If I'm trying something new with the shading, I might do a quick light pencil shading to see if it's working though.
As I've told many folks, I always start with the darks and work to the lights. In this piece, I chose to go straight for the blacks. I softened the edges here and there with a dry marker to help with blending.

See...this is what happens when I get stuck working and don't drop by for awhile. Everyone does AWESOME STUFF! lol. I must say, I am truly psyched to see you do something like this. I will fave the rest in the series just to follow along in the tutorial but this gets saved first for the rare pencil shot. Awesome and thanks for doing it.

Soften the edges with a "dry marker"? Whats that/or what kind? Thanks for the inside scoop Chris!

Literally dry markers. As in dead markers that don't have much ink left. I use dead black markers since it can be hard to blend from black without some kind of rough transition for the 90 grey to bite into.
