Description This was a fun one. Both guys have that healing factor thing so it's cool to have two guys impaling each other.

Wolverine and Deadpool copyright Marvel..or Disney..whichever...man, that sounds wrong.

May I color this? with your artwork being of such high quality, it would be so much fun to. I would credit you in full, of course. Permission to do any others would also be greatly appreciated.

This is a great piece. Two iconic Marvel heroes going at it. I love your style. Question for ya: what are some good tips to practice the water color, marker and colored pencil process? I love drawing but only go as far as the pencil. I want to practice adding more to my pieces by bringing them more to life. Any suggestions?

My only real tip is to just dive in. Its the only way. The worst that can happen is that you stink at it. But over time, you learn and get better. Half the fun is trying something new. You may surprise yourself

Thank you for the kind words.

slateman [2009-09-05 22:52:00 +0000 UTC]

you really are the king of gray-scale marker render. I bet if copic/ prismacolor/ chartpak etc... used your stuff to show off their marker line they would sell a heck of a lot more...

You sir, have my respect.

did you just not finish wolverine's right foot?

ChristopherStevens In reply to dio-03 [2009-09-04 08:46:46 +0000 UTC]

hehe, nah it's finished..just a strange angle.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dio-03 In reply to ChristopherStevens [2009-09-04 14:41:56 +0000 UTC]

so you're absolutely sure that the foot that is in the top left corner of the image is a finished foot?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChristopherStevens In reply to dio-03 [2009-09-04 19:07:27 +0000 UTC]

Pretty sure.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dio-03 In reply to ChristopherStevens [2009-09-04 22:30:22 +0000 UTC]

wow then you're gonna have to explain how that foot is positioned to acquire such an interesting shape, because i'm thinking pretty hard and i can't imagine it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChristopherStevens In reply to dio-03 [2009-09-05 10:32:39 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, sorry, but I don't think I HAVE to explain anything. If you're not digging, I'm sorry to hear that. Not much I can do about it LOL.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dio-03 In reply to ChristopherStevens [2009-09-05 18:32:34 +0000 UTC]

hey, the drawing floats my boat just fine, i really enjoy most of your comission work. but you can't just say that you 'can't do anything about' me not liking an UNFINISHED foot. if it was your artistic intent to have his foot be unfinished, thats cool, but to say that it is finished, is kind of really confusing as there is no way a foot can be shaped that way. especially since you went through all the trouble of properly rendering his left foot. LOL.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChristopherStevens In reply to dio-03 [2009-09-05 19:28:44 +0000 UTC]

It's finished. You know how I know it's finished. Because I say it's finished. There's no such thing as a "properly" rendered anything. It's rendered the way the artist intended..that's it. There's not one thing in this piece that is "properly" rendered. There' the way you see it and there's the way I and anyone else sees it. It's art...it's not science.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dio-03 In reply to ChristopherStevens [2009-09-05 19:38:41 +0000 UTC]

ok, if thats how you wanna say you 'didn't feel like rendering the rest of the boot' then fine by me. but you could just say that you didn't feel like rendering the rest of the boot. if its artistic intent, like i said before, cool.

I love the pic! Two of my favorite 'Disvel' characters going at it! And as always love your gray tones style.

And I agree that that does sound wrong. Although I guess maybe some good would come of it. Maybe a quality animated movie about the X-men, Fantastic Four, Avengers or any of the other under-used or POORLY used properties.

At the very least maybe we can get some Wolverine ears hats at Disneyland to go with our Mickey Mouse hats.

Wolverine ears at Disney World...I guess that's something good out of this.

Thanks

Marvelous

The only thing that really bothers me in this great piece of art is that gunflash/explosion (whatever you wanna call it)

It looks much less detailed than the rest of the painting and that's a shame in my eyes. Rest of it is amazing work though

So, i'm gonna fav it after all.

ChristopherStevens In reply to Tjeemp [2009-09-04 08:49:14 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. That's just the way I've always done muzzle flashes. More graphic shapes rather than realistic. No real reason.
