Now that I look at the image again, at noticed that the purple ones were protecting a castle while the golden ones don't seem to be protecting anything.

It's mainly a nice picture.

The basic concept I was going for was law vs chaos, instead of good vs evil.
I tried to include more mechanical and magical things on the left side, to balance out the wild theme on the right.

Dragons and phoenixes.
No contest.
I was wondering where I had seen that image of the dragons before. I had been on the Tube and saw that a a song that I was playing had this as a background.
I never knew it was part of a bigger piece.
Still would keep the part where the dragons are.
They rule indefinitely.

I wasn't really planning for either side to be good or bad here, and there are humans on both sides of things.
The left side has more technology and magic, with their golems, and that wizard, though.

I don't think of either side in this as good or evil, really...
But, like many, I don't like the evil dragon stereotype. Good ones are much more satisfying.

I used a few layers. For most things in this piece, I started by building the silhouette, and added details on top of that.
It was a bit of a different process from what I normally use, but it worked out well.

When I show the RIGHT side people always WOW to the phoenixes. You know, they are usually rare, but there we can see 3 there. Plus, the way they stand out is also so smooth, eye-catching.

I wasn't quite so sure. This has the largest scope by far, out of everything I've worked on, but I think my technique has improved decently since I made this piece.
It was quite a fun project, though.
