Description
Birds don't nest in the fall.I've never really tried a fall themed picture before, so this one was a lot of fun to work on.
I tried a few new things when drawing the sky and grass, and switched the style of the dragon's eye from my last picture.
I'm rather proud of how it turned out.
The warm color scheme was probably inspired by some of the awesome art made by Cryslara.
If you haven't seen her art yet, check it out.

And, it appears so. The dragon doesn't quite seem large enough to fly him around.

very nice, very nice.
The dragon of course looks awesome, I do like that eye! the scales are beautiful as well. I think you did very well on his overall posture and pose
Not that most of your pieces seem to lean to the more realistic, but the humans tend to look the most cartoonish. I'm not saying that's bad, just something I've noticed.
I like how you added in the digital screen on the camera nice lil detail.
the color sceme is very very nice! I LOVE Fall! so this is awesome.
and the sky!!! I love how you did the poofyish clouds that seem to all meld together. tutorials possible?
The ground cover is nice in how you added in lil patched of dirt among the grass. That def seems to fit since you are in a mountanish scene. and the lil bird in the tree and rays of light at the side were a good add as well.
You seem to do really well with little details. things like pulling a scene together by adding this little thing or that without overcrowding it. and your lighting effects have always been beautiful!
nice work Chrom

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy it.
I might be able to do a tutorial about how I made those clouds. The only difficult part would be expanding it into a tutorial. The method was really simple.
I just used the airbrush to define the brighter and darker parts of the sky, then sampled colors from that and used some swirly strokes to make the clouds themselves. It took much less time than how I usually draw skies, and I think the effect is really nice.
The grass was rather quick and effective, too.
Even though my pieces aren't really an attempt at realism, I think I do need to work on my technique for drawing humans. That's probably one thing I'll try to improve on coming up.

Wow, these are your most beautiful color choices yet! I love those strong yellows you put in, adds an extra contrast to it! I think your dragon scales are improving! I see a lot more texture and lighting detail than in your previous work
Those wings are also gorgeous!
Honestly I can't stop string at this

This is freaking amazing. I love the details.
I love the details in this piece in particular the scales on the dragon stand out as some of the most realistic scales I've seen in a long time.
Why am I delaying this... *goes to *

Thanks.
It's a similar scale method to what I used in the Forest King and Village Guardian pictures. I think it's working out rather well.
I'll probably keep trying to improve on it, though.

Hullo! I think you showed me this one in progress. I agree with the other commenters: the scales - gorgeous! The setting and idea is really perfect, too. What a nice moment.
And - I know this is weird - but I really dig those little rocks by the signage. Is that odd?

I put the rocks in there because I wanted to add a bit more variety to the scenery. Along with the path, that the dragon covers roughly %90 of.
So, I like the rocks, too.
This one was a lot of fun to work on, and took about a third less time that my last three took. It was faster, as well.
I found some fun new ways of drawing skies and grass while working on it.

The colours in this are absolutely stunning. They're so vibrant and beautiful, truly breathtaking. I think you need to work on your human anatomy a bit, especially faces as they look a little flat - try fleshing out the nose and lips especally. However the dragon is great, I especially love the textures on the wings and scales. This is a wonderful piece overall, great atmosphere and composition

Thanks you very much.
I'll have to do a few practice pictures so I can get that anatomy thing down a bit better, I think. I'll definitely have to try experimenting around with the nose and lips. I'll also have to do some more detailed hair, too.
I was thinking of adding in some more stroke detail, but it really threw off that simple lighting when I tried it on this picture.
There are a few faint freckles on the face, too. It looked REALLY bland without those.

I love the color schemes you use in your pictures, they always work so well together.
And I like how you did the dragon eye in ths picture, it's much more reptillian.
Please don't tell me you did this with only a mouse again...

Thanks.
I like how the eye looks much more, too.
The blank glowing eyes are sort of cool, but I think I'll probably use this way more often. It's easier to show what the dragon is looking at with a more detailed eye.
This is another mouse picture.
Most of mine are.

It still amazes me that you draw with a mouse. Is it a track-ball or just a normal mouse?
I'm finally making an account on that dragon Oekaki board you sent me a link to, to see what it's like. Thanks again for that.

It's a normal optical mouse.
Found a image of it from Google. [link]
It's a very average, but it works.
And, enjoy the oekaki board.

Oh ok. That incredible. I use a track ball mouse, image:[link] , which I think is easier to control and I still can't even draw a simple straight line with it.
I tried Oekaki, I can't quite get the hang of it. I'll try again later but for now I think I'll just stick to my GIMP. Thanks though!
