Description
Started out as something to work on between my calendar art because even I get bored of just drawing scenery over and over again. So I have been working on and off this for the past couple of weeks so I'm surprised that I'm actually content with what the final result came out like. Not totally as I envisioned but close enough and I've spent enough time on it.Just a long-haired bishie and a lot of pretty purple stuff, mainly the girls will only like it but I'm sure some guys will too
Also my first semi-realism attempt I feel might be good enough for a print, so why not - it's costing me nothing
All artwork in my gallery remains my own copyrighted work and is not to be re-submitted, edited or not on any other account or site without my permission

Someone to fall in love with! Wouldn't it nice if fantasy could be real? Reality for the most part could disappear although not all of it.

I do need some elements of the real world that don't always show up in my art, even though I still appreciate them (a life without computers, modern housing, potato chips and cartoons? noooo! ) But indeed a lot of fantasy stuff I wish were real...Not the things that can kill you know, but there's an abundance of beautiful fantasy guys that exist only in pictures here on dA who I wish were real. They make most real guys look kinda plain by comparison
Falling in love with something that doesn't exist is a dangerous trap to fall into though

I need my "comfort" items as well. As for falling in love with Fantasies I must admit that I had done so, but I justify it in that neither of us gets hurt or has any issues, I know that isn't being realistic but sometimes the heart falls although the mind knows better. I guess we all have our ideals but I ask this? A fantasy picture is probably more attainable then the guy in the ad in the magazine or the one that lives a half continent or world away, right? Its how we deal with it I suppose and how it makes us feel. When you feel isolated sometimes the picture is your best friend.

The details on his clothes did take a long time to put into place And yeah - purple is a really nice colour you don't often see in male art

Still a lot of stereo types against it. I see it more and more...pinkish grey or fushia purple...worn mostly by colored men.

I think Kuja has purple hair...I can't remember actually. He's very...feminine though, even for my tastes But nah - this is just a character I made on the spot

Wow, you are really improving on your humans! I can totally see that you're getting better. I still see that you have room for improvement in the hair. It can be more loose, and not as stiff. The necklaces could be better meshed with the body (or how you call it). The flowers are of course unmatched, the lips are really good, the kimono really looks good, and you've managed to pull off the color purple, which I hear is really difficult. Keep it up! And maybe this comment is a bit too late, seeing as you made this in 2009... :S

Thanks, hair I try to get as much fine details in as I can to get the look of individual strands, I can't seem to adapt to the softer flowy look that others seem to do so easily, I have a tendcancy to overdo things at times
Yeah this is quite old already and I've drawn my people since this, but dmittedly not too many but each better than this at least
True purple is the most unnatural colour and so it's rare to see it used in art that dosn't look super-girly even though this is a little bit that way anyway, purple often needs to be subdued and minimise how many "rich" deep purples there are

Yes, I have the exact same problem with hair. I haven't done any art lately though, but I just can't seem to get the hair right! I think you have to have a degree or something.
I actually have a purple piece, but you pulled yours off much better than me. When I start doing art again, I have to make some environments and backgrounds as well. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your works though.

I totally love this digital art.
It gives off a soft, gentle, calm and serene feeling. Something I wouldn't mind getting lost in for days on end. Like a purple heaven if you will lol a nostalgia you can always visit anytime you want.
IMO it's a superb job.

I love this one, it's so pretty.
How did you approach the pattern on the robe?
š: 0 ā©: 1
Chromattix In reply to Lesleigh63 [2010-02-12 08:47:49 +0000 UTC]
I first drew up the individual patterns themselves (four in total) and had them on seperate layers where I duplicate and would warp one to fit the folds of his clothes, then repeat the process picking from my pre-made patterns...ignoring the time it took to make those patterns, the process of placing them all over took maybe a couple of hours, I think I had the layer set to "overlay" or "soft light" to make it look like they were part of the fabric rather than just stickers on it

Thankyou, it does take a lot of hard work, often years to develop even this far, or at least for me anyone (some freaks of nature can pick it up quickly ) but knowing you worked hard at it is half the joy of it really, art would be less special if it were easy to do
good luck
