Description
The classic apple tree, an iconic symbol of fertility, prosperity and in some cases - even the earliest days of man. Here in a controlled keepsafe to give it optimum conditions. But one has to wonder, is this the first tree that ever existed, synthesized by another species? Or is it humanity desperately trying to save one of the last? This is my first of three submissions to the latest exhibit for the Luminarium's latest Gaia theme. Which I also proudly made it as the featured artist for the exhibit too and got interviewed, which can be seen here [link]
Created using Cinema 4D, Vue and Photoshop. I ran into a lot of issues with this one, being my last "complex" scene done entirely on my old computer. I owe a thanks to ~Kaioshen who rendered the Vue file for me since I would have been waiting days if I left it to my old system.
Other artworks will be uploaded in the coming days. I just don't believe in dumping a bunch of work at one. Let people digest one apple before feeding them the next

that sounds rather irritating. If you are the one whose going to contact him about it (maybe after getting approval from all the other artists you've talked to) then be my guest, at least make him give the art piece the proper title (renaming the title does sound a little offensive, do they think they're better ta naming a piece than the person who created it? ). Though if you want me to do it then I'm going to need some contact information if you have any

You appear to misunderstand my purpose. I am only doing what I can to inform the other artists whose art may be at risk. I am in the process of taking action – but only in regard to my own art. I’ve provided information so that others can act on their own.

Over the past 24 hours, or so, I have engaged in an interesting series of discussions with other artists – some of whom immediately grasp that fact of what I have to say, and others who do not – all of which highlights what are, I suppose, philosophical differences.
I am not a relativist – I am an Objectivist, so I do not possess the … passivity … I have observed in some.
My only purpose is to inform, so others are aware. I am not here to persuade you to act in any way other than your judgment dictates.

I have a fishbowl with a Venus flytrap growing in it, which is close enough Have had the little plant for almost a year now - I must be the only person who can keep one of those alive for more than a week

A Vivarium is an area, usually enclosed, for keeping and raising animals or plants for observation or research. Often, a portion of the ecosystem for a particular species is simulated on a smaller scale, with controls for environmental conditions. ~ Wikipedia - Vivarium

I've seen some pretty cool hydroponic kits in local garden stores actually Though they seem more geared towards growing for practical reasons (like vegetables and herbs) while I just grow plants for beauty reasons (flowers and interesting/unusual garden plants). I would like a larger terrarium, though those small ones in those glass "bubbles" seem really good. Maybe I just have to decorate my flytrap's one a bit more interestingly

Great work. The concept is great and leaves our mind wondering about the scale of the scene and of the builders.
I particularly like the perspective, don't know how you did it. We can see both the ground and the ceiling, which suggests something like a fish-eyed lens, but there's no visible distortion. How did you do it, if I may ask?
I also put some trees in bottles some years ago, with a completely different concept and execution (yours are so much better). Anyway, it may be interesting for you to take a look: [link]

Thanks for the compliment I don't think I did anything special with the perspective. The room as a whole was a large cylinder that was much more wide than tall (almost like a coin or a short can
) with the foreground contents right in the middle of it. The camera was pretty much straightforward with no changes to the focal range, I think much of this effect really is just owed to the fact the walls in the background are actually further out than they appear
I faved that one of yours back when you submitted it

What an interesting concept -- in-vitro apple trees!
It's problematic to realise though -- apple trees need cross-pollination, and trees have incrediblerelationships with animals, soil organisms and surrounding plants. In the end, nature is probably the best lab environment for an apple tree
But never mind the nitpicking, it's an interesting idea, and graphically very attractive!

That's very true. I keep forgetting that bees and other insects/birds are responsible for plants flowering and then fruiting. I'm always under the impression they just...do it themselves

Big grinn I like to play around with Permaculture, which is about designing natural systems to your own benefit, by consciously using components of nature under their own conditions. Pretty much the opposite of what you've drawn here
Things can happen by themselves, when you design it into your system. Perhaps you should watch the inspiring documentary A Farm for the Future for a quick introduction. Between 37:00 and 43:15 you see why I said that nature is more efficient (at 40:55) than technology.
Curious what you think of this... maybe it helps to inspire your beautiful art!

The contrast between natural and artificial is nicely done as well ^^

Absolutely gorgeous, as always.
I wonder if I'm the only one who noticed that the watermark is actually made so that it looks like it's inscribed in frosted glass on the globe?
