Description A man-made Solar System, fully functional or just a hologram? - it's up to the viewer . Though it was created with the theme "Genisis" in mind, like a new artificial dawn in my interpretation since that's the theme of The Luminarium 's 8th art exhibit, of which I also had othe rideas for too - but I only had time to make this one among other things I'm working on.

This evolved significantly and is evidence on how gaining outside opinions really can improve an artwork. But the biggest help came from *SomniCelestia who suggested this steep and dynamic perspective...beforehand, my theme was still in the right place but the angle was straight-on and pretty boring. I think I need not only think outside the box when it comes to concept, but perspective too. I'll just have to see

All models made by me in Cinema 4D, imported to Vue where they were textured, lighted and rendered (blurred reflections made the base render take friggi'n 26 hours to render ) and a lot of digital painting over it afterwards as it looked far too much like a room in a game beforehand

P.S - in the off chance someone buys a print, it can potentially be hung upside-down too for a different perspective of the same scene

Man this is awesome, I love the way the system looks so nice and compact. Hey,one question. Is the 3rd planet Earth-like?

Chromattix In reply to BinaryRising [2009-09-23 14:24:08 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, so that's what those things are called, I've known about them for years but never knew their proper names. I even wanted a DIY kit of one when I was a kid where the planets would orbit battery-operated and the sun lit up (never got it though )

Though not based on our own system (which would be too crowded) one thing I tend to do is make the third planet Earth-like, so you guessed right

I think I like it better upside down, actually. Thanks for pointing that out. Very neat though. Nice job.

I was almost going to flip it before putting my signature on actually upside down gives it a feeling of grand size more, but this way adds more depth - strange how that works

Electric-Eccentric In reply to Chromattix [2009-09-23 21:15:08 +0000 UTC]

Haha. Ya. When you flip it, it all looks perfect as a ceiling, and the whole drawing does look more massive. It's a neat pic you have there, especially because it looks good either way, and as you said, has a totally different feel.

My goodness, this is phenomenal; way beyond than what words can express. For some reason anything pertaining to the future and the universe[involving planets, creation, other worlds, aliens, etc.] has always fascinated me. To be able to see something like this actually created one day would be insane. With technology constantly evolving to improve/ perfect itself, I'm both curious and afraid how the world and our take on the universe will change 50-100 years from now.

I agree on all those terms, my interest in space and the future started when I was only around 8 - so pretty young sinc ethen wondering what the future will hold - both through man's technology and natural events has both fascinated me and also made me worry at times. Hopefully all those sci-fi renditions will become a reality - the good ones that is, not the apocalyptic ones

Chromattix In reply to gucken [2009-09-23 13:44:04 +0000 UTC]

The only issue might be the signature being upside down - I was almost planning on putting an inverted signature on top actually for some balance but maybe the frame would cover that. But upside down surprisingly looks just as good, like your'e on the bottom of the room looking up at it...It could be in space - and there's up or down in space

Thanks for faving too

You won't believe this from me - but I never played FFVII - I joined the fandom when the movie came out

Speaking of that series, I have played Dirge of Cerberus, and there was a breathtaking cutscene in that where the character's were in a holographic universe scene

You might get tired of hearing me say this...but this, I truly hope and possibly foresee this becoming a DD someday. Maybe not right away...but sometime down the line, this definitely would be something special to be showcased.

Heh, I love the concept and the ability for there to be room left for viewer interpretation. The brightness and almost mysterious feeling gives off the vibe of being in a futuristic astral observatory. Perspective and all, you've created something truly special right here. I'd love to see a machine like this come to life someday, and be able to witness it. Though of course, might be all the more fun to visit the actual solar system and see it for yourself.

Astounding work here dude, really diggin' this one. 'd

Chromattix In reply to Bowser81889 [2009-09-23 13:28:19 +0000 UTC]

Lol, there's only one thing I'm tired of and that's struggling to see good, lengthy comments like this since the message center changed but if that's the worst of my problems then I consider myself lucky well maybe it'll get a DD, even with 6 already I don't think any were for my sci-fi art, so it'll be something new to me one of the others that made a picture for the same art exhibit and uploaded it only days ago has gotten a DD for theirs already

I sure hope they invent something like this in our lifetime, even if it's just a hologram and not the real thing - then all they need to do is advance it to the point where the artificial systems are small and commercial so we can have e'm in our rooms better yet if the clouds on the planets actually move in-sync with the real ones ahh the thinks I could invent if I were a genius

Glad you liked it
