Description A man-made Solar System, fully functional or just a hologram? - it's up to the viewer . Though it was created with the theme "Genisis" in mind, like a new artificial dawn in my interpretation since that's the theme of The Luminarium 's 8th art exhibit, of which I also had othe rideas for too - but I only had time to make this one among other things I'm working on.

This evolved significantly and is evidence on how gaining outside opinions really can improve an artwork. But the biggest help came from *SomniCelestia who suggested this steep and dynamic perspective...beforehand, my theme was still in the right place but the angle was straight-on and pretty boring. I think I need not only think outside the box when it comes to concept, but perspective too. I'll just have to see

All models made by me in Cinema 4D, imported to Vue where they were textured, lighted and rendered (blurred reflections made the base render take friggi'n 26 hours to render ) and a lot of digital painting over it afterwards as it looked far too much like a room in a game beforehand

P.S - in the off chance someone buys a print, it can potentially be hung upside-down too for a different perspective of the same scene

AMAZING as always! Love it! Will you get any inspiration for a piece with the colours of the Sydney red dust storm?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to joeyartist [2009-09-24 06:50:57 +0000 UTC]

I woke up when the sky was orange and that in itself was eerie, but the pictures I saw on the news taken from early birds of a blood red Sydney sky were breathtaking and kinda spooky. I will admit I am tempted to do a red sky scene because of it - but with so much on my list, it could be a while

And YAY! something that happened in Australia made it to World news

Is Pluto still a planet in your eyes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to Cooleosis [2009-09-24 06:48:45 +0000 UTC]

Nah, guess not - I mean, it's even smaller than our Moon, if they accept Pluto then they might as well add those half a dozen others that are similar to Pluto too

This wasn't based off the real Solar System though, hence less planets

Wow it looks amazing!
I do wonder if the gravity that little system creates will cause the building to collapse from inside-out...?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to Manah-Angel-Eyes [2009-09-24 06:43:42 +0000 UTC]

Lol, if it's small I don't think gravity would be an issue, and if it's huge and encasing a real system, then those are some damn solid walls

Chromattix In reply to carloscgc [2009-09-24 06:42:32 +0000 UTC]

That's just the waiting for it to render after I made it too - though rendering dosn't count as actual work time, it still prevents me from doing any other work while it's rendering

It looks grander-scale that way, but this way was the original design and kinda makes you feel like your'e floating in a gravity-less void

The idea of creating a new solar system is a neat one^^

excellent work dude
isnt it hard for u to make 3d art u can do that in 2d too

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to gkb3rk [2009-09-23 14:49:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man, and nice gallery yourself 3D art I wouldn't say is harder, or easier than 2D if the user has the same amount of experience in both and has been doing each a while, certain things are actually easier in 3D, especially where perspective and lighting in concerned but true it's tougher to start with since 3D programs have such technical looking interfaces, it's easy to forget your'e making art since it dosn't feel like it at times, but I guess it's the digital equivalent to sculpture I mainly use 3D as a base work for my 2D painting to get the results I have in mind

LazyBird1360 In reply to ??? [2009-09-23 12:02:58 +0000 UTC]

So that's what we have to do to keep the solar system going... We just need a few million trillion dollars, and it'll work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to LazyBird1360 [2009-09-23 14:45:14 +0000 UTC]

It'll cost all the money on Earth plus that of our neighbouring Solar System's currencies It really makes you think though - huge scale sci-fi structures are a popular subject in that genre - but does anyone consider the cost to build those things

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LazyBird1360 In reply to Chromattix [2009-09-23 21:38:20 +0000 UTC]

I think that'll do it. I wonder if they have cell phone service there. Maybe I could give them a ring. XD It probably would cost less because in sci-fi stories/movies have extreme knowledge of atom structure and the molecular characteris- *thud* Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz *twitch* zzzzzzzzzz Anyway, lol, that would be cool though to see a real version of that. Great job creating that.
