Description
You guys really didn't think that last submission was going to be it for Halloween did yaThis certainly ended up very different from my original plan, which was going to be even darker and involve more houses. Perhaps I wouldn't have finished so late if I didn't waste hours modelling extra houses that I decided not to use since I favoured a more rural ambiance when it came to setting up everything else. But I think this direction managed to combine the spooky theme with an eerily relaxing one, typical of the kinds of moods I like to work with.

I LOVE the architecture! The pumpkins are a nice touch as well to the otherwise horror inspired horror picture. ^^

Thanks (that tree in front of the moon is a throwback to a previous work I did )

I am making a Halloween picture in Vue right now, it looks not at all this good. Ecosystem leaves? Never thought of that.Β

Oh yeah - if you can make and save some leaf-objects it's doable, but might run up a high polygon count since there will be so many

It might take a while for game graphics to get quite like this during gameplay Hopefully they won't be used just on more shooters. It would be interesting to see amazing graphics used on more creative game genres

Oh, absolutely! Dear Esther already was a fine example. Some claim it's not even a game, but it was still a great experience β and the graphics were quite impressive too. Another example would be Amnesia: The Dark Descent β a first person horror game with no gunplay whatsoever. Crept the hell out of me!
By the way, is there a way to view it in full screen?

Chromattix In reply to rotane [2015-08-21 14:04:11 +0000 UTC]
Never heard of either of those games I admit my gaming sphere is quite small, but a passionate one at that
Hmm, no way to full-screen it. I don't know how to set it up to be able to do that. I try to choose a size that won't hinder its performance too much on those with slightly older computers either

rotane In reply to Chromattix [2015-08-22 22:00:42 +0000 UTC]
I would actually recommend both
Hmm, too bad. On the Pano2VR website (that your thingie links to, when i rightclick) their demo shows fullscreen controls, so there has to be a way

Maybe, but I only bothered learning enough to export it like this since a lot of that other stuff confused me
You can also add background music to these, but there's the issue of copyrights there, and some may find it annoying

rotane In reply to Chromattix [2015-08-22 23:14:27 +0000 UTC]
Ah yeah, i wouldn't bother with music. Too many people have their iTunes or Spoify running in the background, so all it really does is add to the download time of your deviation.

How did you do this?

I used Cinema 4D, Vue and Photoshop (my top software choices for stuff like this)

very cool, how did you make it so that you can click on it and zoom, like your in a 3D video game....a lot of programming? This was a lot of fun to play with. Great job on making this and the house.

Thanks! Well, not really much programming here - but indeed still a lot of work building the scene up from scratch

Totally agree. It's really detailed too. If it's all modeled by hand and not templates, that makes it even more impressive.

I can just imagine this being a lovely family home and the inhabitants going all out for Halloween! This is great! I kept trying to shrink and I was surprised when it moved! This is cool! words cannot describe how floored I am; very, very impressive, Artist-sensei.
