Description
Possibly an addition to my own personal Nextgen? I'm not sure yet. Either way - this gal is a redesign of an old cheap adopt I purchased back in 2018! Though the original TOS of the adopt were to keep things as-is, I thought updating her and making her usable for me was a lot better than leaving her to sit and collect dust. I did check both of the accounts of the creator, but recent activity on both seems to also be from 2018, so I'm not sure if the accounts are even used anymore. By that I mean - I don't think any attempts to reach out and ask would connect. The adopt was also just 20 points, so I don't know how much significance she holds. If the original creator does come forward with any qualms, I'll be more than happy to remove this deviation and give her a fresh coat of paint unrelated to the adopt! Maybe pass the original design on to another owner. I'm all for advocating the following of your artists' TOS; this was done out of wholesome desire to make use of an old purchased adopt, not out of any malice or blatant disregard.

Name: Cherry Bomb (Ruby Rose by birth)
Nicknames: Cherri, Cherry, Cherry Berry, FruitBat
Gender: Female
Orientation: Pansexual
Residence: N/A (more info below)
Cutie Mark / Talent: None or TBD
Cherry here is a wanderer - being spurned by her coven of batfolk for her unusually pinkish light fur (batponies take great pride in purer lineage, sleek coats, and dark colors - thus she was outcast heavily) and smaller than usual wings, Ruby fled her well-off parents to seek acceptance and refuge elsewhere, and now currently does not have a place to call her own. She initially often found herself in unsavory Canterlot alleys, which led to the then-teen toughening up and learning the streets to survive. In adulthood, Cherry still drifts, but now possesses the knowledge of safe spots to rest and clean. After she left, she abandoned the prim and proper name her parents bestowed upon her, and adopted one more fitting of her self-expression. She also feels less stifled about celebrating her pansexual orientation; back at the coven she would have been wed in an arranged marriage orchestrated by her parents, desperate to reclaim their honorable legacy of "traditional" batpony ancestry and setting her up with some prestigious, dark-coated stallion noble - one that would insist he was doing them a HUGE favor by agreeing to marry their poor, outcast daughter, all the while benefitting greatly from Cherry's family name, status, and fortune.
Cherry is punkish, defensive, clever, capable, agile, spunky, and animated. She loves night life, at parties and bars and festivals with the few friends she's picked up. These friends insist she can crash with them any time, but only when she is at her most desperate does she usually take them up on their offers, or on special occasions. These ponies accept her wholeheartedly, and helped her shape heself into the mare she wanted to be. Cherry would do anything for them.
Because the largest accumulation of batpony covens is in Canterlot (headcanon), it isn't uncommon for Cherry to cross paths with other bats, who do not hesitate to try and rattle her. She's learned to keep her cool, but sometimes she does get physical, because as much as she pretends not to care what they say about her, a part of her deep down still stings. Her pals are always there to help her with her insecurities and lift her back up.
Fun fact: Cherry LOVES fruity drinks, especially alcoholic ones. This love has earned her several nicknames, and contributed to her own choice of new name.
In regards to vampony/batpony distinction: the words are used interchangeably in Equestrian society, but there's more to it than that. Batponies are a natural sub-species of pony that thrived under the reign of Nightmare Moon and her nighttime conditions; before then they were a reclusive society few in number. Both Luna and Moony doted on them like their own Children of the Night. Many swear loyalty to Luna today as her guards because she embodies the night they love so much; others less well-intentioned do so because they pray for a return of Nightmare Moon in all her glory. Anyways, due to their mystique, foreign beauty, and relation to Princess Luna (who is largely forgiven over time as seen in the show), their presence is tolerated, even respected by typical elites. There's a bit of a double standard when it comes to hybrids in Equestrian; half-lycans ("wereponies") are seen as uncivilized beasts, yet batponies ("vamponies") are suave, charismatic, and elegant.
As a consequence of the Tantabus's influence on Luna and the land during Nightmare Moon times, batponies became much more lethal and parasitic - keener eyesight, bigger wings, sharper and longer fangs, and the newfound ability of leeching off of other ponies for sustanence. Whether this was inteded or not is a mystery; some claim it was just dark magic being dark magic, while a loud minority shout that it was Luna's revenge on the sun-loving citizens of Equestria to create a brood of monsters to feed on them while they sleep (Luna vehemently denies this, but even she can't remember exactly, memories too distorted by emotion). While batponies can survive off of fruit juice, nectars, and sugars, bloodthirst is an option thanks to this prior dark influence, remaining in them throughout generations just like the alterations to physical attributes. Any batpony that follows this road is referred to as a "vampony" - but seldom do. Typically, any pony that is transformed into a batpony by the bite of one of these creatures is also referred to as a "vampony" by covens, due to their own pride and strong valuation of pure blood. Vamponies can not sustain themselves on other ponies with batpony blood as a rule of thumb, but the desperate and the angry have been known to feed off of kin and even themselves for a short meal (the latter obviously being counter-productive).
In short: all vamponies are batponies, but not all batponies choose to be vamponies. Vampony is a title to those who live a blood-drinking lifestyle, and also a derogatory term for 'turned' batponies, regardless of whether or not they drink blood or sugars.
