Description
Part of a shared nextgen verse with PrincessRaevinFlash ! Her design is subject to change in small ways (more markings, probably, and maybe a less saturated coat color). The universe was created before some events in the show (most notably the finale), and disregards some others entirely. It also includes a lot of ships that aren't our preference anymore. I'll have a folder for our shared verse and others for my own ideas. >;3

Gender: Female
Race: Pegasus
Build: Athletic. She's meant to be a bit on the smaller side, with long legs and an impressive wingspan (thank her lineage) to make up for it. Lots of free time to practice flying.

Brief Background

Dusk Radiance and her twin brother, DawnBreak (www.deviantart.com/princessrae… ) are two parts of a whole disaster. While Dawn is studious, cold, and quiet, Dusk is not at all academically inclined, warm, and exuberant (if a bit reckless). Despite being the older sibling by a few minutes, she much preferred to let Dawn choose their activites growing up, and followed him around quite a bit. Not that either seemed to mind; they were close as could be. Twilight, fearing for her children's safety, didn't let them leave the castle very much, and Flash had duties as a soldier to attend to, so Dawn and Dusk were each other's primary company.

Dusk's first major devastation would come from Dawn's leaving for a private Academy of Magic at the arrival of their school years, which left her alone for just about the first time. Twilight permitted her to attend public school in Ponyville because of this (provided she had escorts wherever she went), where she made new friendships with the other children of her mother's friends, but regardless she formed a habit of distancing herself when at home in the castle. Attempts by her parents, Sunset, Starlight, and Trixie (the latter three also residing in the castle, Sunset as co-ruler) to reach out were met with feigned nonchalance and aloofness. She acted like it didn't bother her, that she was fine being alone, and scraped by. She had friends to help her through, which made school a temporary haven (with bits of hell sprinkled in; she wasn't a fan of the 'education' bit of school).

Eventually, Dawn does come to the school in Ponyville (presumably as a project for his other Academy), and the two rekindle, but their bond isn't exactly the same as before. No bitterness is held on Dusk's end - her brother is a child prodigy, of course he was meant to attend somewhere more prestigous that could support his brilliant brain - but she wasn't going to cling to him out of fear of being "abandoned" again. She would still do anything for him, even as a young adult, but their relationship is never identical to their innate tightness as kids. Their time apart had strengthened Dusk's independence (though ironically enough, she's still as clingy as ever when it comes to romance), so she leaves him to his own devices more often than not. She'd hate to get in the way of his studies, anyways. It's unclear of how much of this Dawn has deduced; he is intelligent, but social cues are not his forte.

-Dusk's status as a pegasus descendant of a princess is... complicated. Typically, Equestrian leaders are strong, clever, and - in all senses of the word - magical, to ward off threats with powerful attacks and cast protective enchantments. Dusk, being firstborn, is technically in line for Twilight's throne, despite her not quite meeting this criteria.

She refuses it. No magic, years of just average grades in school, and a lack of desire for the responsibilities leave Dusk to tell her mom that she thinks Equestria would be better off without her on its throne. Besides, Twilight had someone much more capable of running a country at her disposal, a son who could do everything Dusk couldn't. As it turns out, Dawn isn't exactly excited by the idea of leadership either, but he's hard-pressed to say no given the circumstances. It IS an honor, after all, and if Dusk insists he should have it...

-Dusk falls fast and hard for every woman around her, especially those who treat her with even just a shred of dignity. All of her friends are walking supermodels in her eyes, and she crushes on all of them. Her first datemate is a descendant of a siren, who manipulates her tendencies to isolate and her clinginess.

-Twilight and Flash are separated. Her and Dusk were born a few years before a changeling crisis, and it was during this time that Twilight decided she couldn't maintain their romance with her duties to Equestria. There's no bad blood between them, but Flash admittedly misses her. He visits whenever his schedule permits. Neither of them are "bad" parents, but being a princess and a soldier respectively, they don't exactly spend enough time parenting their kids. Castle staff and Starlight and Trixie are around more than their actual parents are. Sunset, in comparison, tends to put her hoof down when having to choose between her child (www.deviantart.com/princessrae… ) and a meeting. *note - Sunny is a single mom, and had Indigo with an OC she's no longer with. She's also an ascended alicorn.

-Dusk really, really enjoys sports. Mostly flying, but also equipment-based sports and swimming. She's toyed with the idea of becoming a Wonderbolt, but is held back by a lack of dedication in choosing a career path and a fear that she started flying too late (not physically flying, flying "with a purpose" so to speak). She was taught to fly, not by Flash (whom she waited up many nights hoping he'd teach her), but by her friends/friends' moms. Twilight was not an ideal candidate for flight tutoring for obvious reasons. Dusk is very proud of her sleek, vibrant plumage, and takes comfort in nighttime flies like she did when she was lonely as a girl.

-Dusk does have some magic in her blood, despite being a pegasus, but it is unclear how it manifests. It's the reason for her stardust-like markings and gradient in her hair stripes.
