Description
Please submit completed projects hereSo I am trying my hand to see if I can inspire a project to help provide more reference resources for artists here on DA.
My wishful thinking is, we have a million glamour shots and wistful looking beauties here on DA, but for the cartoon artist we rely on our own reflection to capture the melodrama and nuances of expressions. It would be very interesting to see individuals with their unique and expressive faces run the gamut of human emotion and help us learn how to draw others better!
----------------------------------
A few Humble Requests:
1) No makeup, save for perhaps lipstick if you go black and white. We need to see those wrinkles.
2) Don't be afraid to look grotesque, to see how the face moves and contorts is the most important thing. An artist can reduce and tone down to suit their style.
3) It is not required to make the images black and white, but I did notice it made it easier to exaggerate the the planes of the face when I didn't have to worry about color too.
4) Hair can be a valuable way to show action and emotion, but for this please pull your hair off your face.
5) If it is possible, keep the images at their original size. 9 by 16.5 at 300 dpi. This allows for a great quality image that can be printed out for individual artists use :3. When you save it as a Jpeg it should weigh in at about 8 mbs.
Please download to receive PSD template. Thank You!!!

I would do this, but my computer's having a really tough time downloading the layered file. :/ Could you make a JPEG available?

A little. I don't want to boss people too much, but to see your full facial and skull structure will be very helpful. The line of the jaw is important to see exageratted mouth movements, and it will be easier if we see the ear and how it joins to the jaw. Also the side bangs if they cover the brow, may hide the wrinkles and eyebrows.
But I will be happy with any contribution really.

Hey wow this is awesome! I just wonder how I'll manage this on my own... And then everyone will laugh when they notice Victoria almost has my nose. (Okay, hers is longer. But still. )

chronicdoodler In reply to victricia [2010-09-04 14:51:06 +0000 UTC]
It's tricky by yourself definitely. All of mine were taken by me holding my camera, and you can see the forced perspective it causes (BIG head, itty bitty neck )
I would love for you to do this, It would great to have Victoria's (your nose ) to study.

The particular style used to be called "IRC-gallery pic" when I was a kid. I found my old camera and a fitting USB cable! So I'm gonna do it, forced angle or no!
I really loved yours, you have a very expressive face

I'm more used to just making the faces while I'm drawing them. I'm not known for being particularly demonstrative. Weird.
And my contribution to the project is done! [link] Fear my nose! Mwuahahaha!
