The layers of masks that I have worn
Have broken and shattered.
They are no more,
Lying on the ground...
Scattered all around,
Showing a cracked reflection,
Of whom I once was.

The layers of masks that I have worn

Showing a cracked reflection,
Of whom I once was.
The armor I wore to protect myself,
Has been ripped away and torn apart...
Leaving me bare, and vulnerable to
All the emotions I once knew.
The pain and hurt it hid from me,
Is hitting me all at once and crippling me.
My shield is damaged,
No longer of any use...
For it can no longer protect this fragile
Heart of mine,
Leaving it unguarded for the first time.
The sword I once carried
My source of strength,
That kept all my enemies and pain
At bay,
Has been snapped in half and is of
No use...
Being used so much, protecting me
From much abuse.
The two personas I have used so much,
Have left me, no longer can I feel
Their touch.
Only one remains; the one who has
Always felt my pain…
The one who always stayed away,
Quietly watching and afraid,
Staying in the shadows,
Never making a sound,
