Description
... these two here are two more characters I did for DC Online... these weren't meant to be used 'as is', but the player could pick and choose different elements for their character customization. It's much easier (and much more fun as well) to design a whole character instead of designing "50 different boots, 50 different torsos, 50 different helmets" etc etc... I've done that before, and for me, it's much much easier to design a whole cohesive character that can later be broken up into pieces (less brain-draining as well)Anyway, these two were pretty fun because we had designed SOOOO MANY super-hero type characters, that it was nice to be able to do something a bit more Sword and Sorcery... at this point, I was trying to focus much more on giving characters distinct silhouettes and 'cuts' in their accessories...
For the Evil-Sorcerer dude, I wanted very much to keep an Egyptian feel with the curves and sun motifs, but also some chaos with the cape and necrotic skin.
... the girl was very much influenced by a crow and a 'hard angle' armor with semi-organic elements ... I don't know if that cape would be too much of a pain in the butt to make in 3D (with all the feathers), but I thought it made for a pretty aggressive look, so why not throw it in?

Wow this looks really cool. What programs do you use to bring these to life? Do you start off with digital? Or do you draw something, scan it in and work from there? Seems like there might be a combination of Adobe Photoshop and possibly Adobe Illustrator...

umhhhhh... I think these were done completely digital, and I pretty much use Adobe Photoshop for 99% of what I do!

I designed these about two years ago (more or less) and although I am DYING to play Skyrim, I still haven't gotten around to it so I am not familiar with the character designs in that game... pulling from Egyptian culture is SUPER fertile-ground though, so many of us designers pull from those influences!

You are super versatile man. I wish you would have designed the new 52 costumes. At least they would have been comtemporary.

I'm actually playing this right now. And I want parts from both of these pretty damn bad. So, successful designs in my book. Hot damn.

they are not from a comic, they're from the DC Universe Online game

not these particular characters, these were used more as pieces for character customization.

I believe they were both used, but since they were used for 'parts', unless you assembled the whole outfit they wouldn't look like this!

Maybe you should put all these designs in an artbook or something
