Forgot what I used this bastard for.... it might have just been a doodle in a sketchbook somewhere... anyway, I found the scanned image in some old 'backup folder', and one of those days where I was bored of playing Mass Effect for the 10th time, I decided to slap some quick colors on this... I wanted to get that AWESOME energetic effect that Yoshi Shinkawa gets.... and failed... hahah... I still kinda like the doodle though.

Gotta loosen up more if you want that Yoji Shinkawa energy! Part chaos, part deliberate mark making. It's about making a mess and then guiding it and reigning it in. Felllow deviant is pretty good at it. You should check out his free inking videos on Youtube: [link] Intense stuff.

heheh... yup... his stuff is much 'simpler' in terms of values, and MUCH more energetic... he might also use Sumi brushes, so he gets those nice 'juicy' brush strokes.... I might have to go drink 10 espressos and then try again!
