Description        Go to your FeralHeart\media\objects\my_objects folder, and move your .mesh and .material files into this folder. After that go into the FeralHaert game and go to Tools then Object Maker, after the Object Maker opens click on the Mesh tab. Now you'll see two spaces where you can type in titled Mesh: and Material:, enter the names of the .mesh file and .material file in the right spaces then you got your object inside the game now. Make sure while typing in the name of the mesh file to include the .mesh in it's name but while typing in the materials name DON'T add the .material to it's name. After you've got your object in the game go back to the Object tab, type in a name for your new object inside the space titled Name: (You can name it anything you want.) and than type which group you want your object to be saved as inside the space titled Group:, make sure to enter One group that is in your list of groups below. (You can view your existing groups in the scroll window titled Group:  .) After you have typed in everything correctly you can push the Save button then you will be all done!
After you save the object you can test out your new object by pushing the Test button. Have Fun!

       PS: If you happen to be able to walk into your objects and you don't want it to be like that but don't know how to fix it just go into the Mesh tab while in the Object Maker and there should be a check box called "Self Collision", click on this then your problem will be fixed.
       PSS: If your mesh turns out being pure white then it may be possible you may need to use a different name for the .material file. It's a bit confusing but the .material file has two different names. The one you probably used first was the actual file's name "FILENAME.material" and the one you need to use is located inside the .material file itself. You can view the contents of the file by double clicking on it, after that a window will pop up saying that windows can't open the file. Near the bottom there will be two chooses to pick from, pick "Select the Program from a list" than click "Ok". This will take you to a list of programs that you have on your computer, find and click NotePad than click "Ok". After you open the .material file in NotePad you will need to find the name you need to use in Object Maker.

       The file should look something like this inside NotePad:

material Material/SOLID/TEX/wood-textures-vol-1-large-1.jpg
{
technique
{
pass
{
diffuse 0.800000 0.800000 0.800000
specular 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 12.500000
texture_unit
{
texture wood-textures-vol-1-large-1.jpg
}
}
}
}
material Material/SOLID/TEX/rusty_metal_B.jpg
{
technique
{
pass
{
diffuse 0.800000 0.800000 0.800000
specular 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 12.500000
texture_unit
{
texture rusty_metal_B.jpg
}
}
}
}

       Their are two names, in this case, for this one object. The names are next to the text "material" and in this file are "Material/SOLID/TEX/wood-textures-vol-1-large-1.jpg" and "Material/SOLID/TEX/rusty_metal_B.jpg". When you find the names you need in the .material file than go back into Object Maker in FarelHeart than enter the names into the material space. Don't add all the names into one space, when you've added one name press Enter than click on the arrow button near the material space then add the other one, if you have more then one name to use.

       Hopefully this helped you fix your problem but if you are confused or nothing is working still please note me or comment.

Ive done the download, everything went smoothly until I got to testing, I looked at your tutorial and followed every step. I added Collisions to the den more than three times in object maker. When I test, nothing seems to work, the test char keeps on falling through. I don't even know what to do now p:

I just downloaded your cave mesh. I put the .mesh and .material into the my_object folder.
once I go to fh, and object maker, I type in the .mesh and .material where they are supposed to be, and nothing show up. There are some jpeg files. Are the jpeg files supposed to go in a different folder? I tried putting them in the same folder, and no difference, nothing shows up. Am I doing something wrong or?..

Chunkymonkey94 In reply to Fluhtter [2013-04-12 01:40:56 +0000 UTC]

all you need to type in is the mesh file's name then there should be a button called "add new" or something like that, find and push the button then it should work.

I have a problem still after reading this and going step by step. It only comes up with a material of base white I tried to put it in myself and it says does not exist. I downloaded you're Cave mesh to let you know.

Are you taking moving the stuff out of the folder?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AskMoonblaze In reply to Chunkymonkey94 [2013-01-13 13:35:36 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I did exactly that. I typed everything, put down MyRocks for group and clicked 'save', but when I clicked test, nothing was there and when I exited test, the materiel and mesh columns were empty.

Thanks for the information! I have a simple question though. What if the file only comes with a .Mesh file and nothing else? What do you type in once you get on FH?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chunkymonkey94 In reply to Airmead [2012-06-10 04:00:34 +0000 UTC]

Just enter it in the object maker like usual.

I downloaded your "Dead Tree" mesh link and added it to the MyObjects folder, but when I typed in the mesh and material in the object maker, it just turned white. What am I doing wrong?

Chunkymonkey94 In reply to Genesis199 [2012-04-26 02:35:23 +0000 UTC]

When u add the material make sure the caps are correct and when you type it in DON'T add the .material thing in the end like u would with a mesh, .mesh in the end.

With a program called Blender, there is more to making a mesh but starting with one program will help make it less confusing.
