Description
"Joker decides to take advantage of a rare lull in the hard work of saving the galaxy, and take 40 winks."He entrusts the ship's Artificial Intelligence, EDI, to pilot in his absence, and it assures him that it will awaken him if he is needed.
"Unknown to Joker, EDI has been developing a strong sense of companionship with this singular human she spends so much of her time with.
"In secret, EDI constructed a mech armature which she can control remotely, in order to walk and see as a human would.
"She enters Joker's room while he is asleep, and wonders to herself if her feelings of companionship are developing into something deeper."

I kind of saw it coming, though; EDI and Jeff had a friendly relationship in ME2, so it wasn't that big a leap to think they would be a couple.
Now if he could just get that 'brittle bone' problem fixed, or else this is going to be a unconsummated relationship ^_^

I finally finished my playthrough and see what everyone means, although I find it kind of 'sudden' between them... wasn't Joker well, joking about the whole 'this is unnatural' thing with his relationship with EDI at the end of ME 2?
I'll probably do a ME 3 version of EDI soon, though.

I could see Legion developing feelings of his own for EDI, and, seeing her relationship with Joker, even getting a Humanoid body of his own , thereby developing a three way 'love triangle' between them (and probably creeping out Joker something fierce

Yeah, and with all that M.E. technology left by the Protheans and Project Lazarus or Whatnot, there should at least be something to where Joker can fix his broken/crippled leg with prosthetics or a suit... hell, even Garrus should be able to fix his broken talon. Lol.
But, two competent AI's on board and no one wants a romance? Across the whole spectrum of the Internets I've yet to see such a story or idea like this take form.
If EDI were embodied, synthetically, maybe Joker could actually have a real shot. Maybe. Doubt it's his thing dating computers though... AND if he gets his leg fixed.... Legion on the other hand, could contribute something to EDI's embodiment. And, likewise being synthetic AIs, they do have a lot of time and space spent together. I've always taken the notion that EDI was sort of 'fascinated' by Legion. She was the one to name the geth Legion, after all. Think about that.

I do agree with you that M.E. medical tech should be advanced enough to fix Joker's brittle bone problem in some way (if not permanently, then some kind of 'supplement' he can take regularly to strengthen his bones).
I do like the idea that EDI would team up with Legion to get a true 'synthetic' body made (ala Bishop from 'Aliens'), I could even see a story where she doesn't even let Joker know, and just joins the crew as a new member (and being an AI she could copy a portion of her mind into the synthetic and still remain the 'brains' of the Normandy).
I wouldn't mind reading a fanfic like that, although I myself am a horrible writer, and on the whole I don't read fanfics, but its good to speculate.

I reckon in the next ME that EDI should hve a new avatar - sort of like a symbol that she works for Shepherd now, not the Illusive man. Or at least, that's the paragon ending with the collector base destroyed if I am informed correctly. And if she does obtain a new holographic avatar, then I wouldn't see it as impossible that she enlisted the aide of Mordin to create a android body that she could use as well.
